On the Map #2

Jim1348 started a post on the 45th parallel and it reminded me of Point Roberts Washington.

While Point Roberts is not on the 45th it is on the 49th parallel and an interesting place on the map.

Any Overcurrent Protection? (60W Power Converter 110-240V AC to 12V 5A DC Power Adapter)

Would something like this have any over current protection?

The pessimist in me fears that it may overheat and be a hazard.

Do you have any cams at your residence?

Over Thanksgiving, I installed Blink cameras.

It's been over a month and I find it to be a system that I can recommend.

I never thought about it, but have always seen them on the news for documenting things such as theft by porch pirates, sometimes some incident, etc.

USNG Emergency Location Markers (ELM’s)

I live in Dakota County Minnesota. The Dakota County Parks Department went to USNG Emergency Location Markers (ELM’s).

That uses the Military Grid Reference System (MGRS).

How Many Different Residences Have The Same Exact Nine Digit ZIP Code As You Do? (ZIP+4 Code)

Someone in my neighborhood had a package delivered to them that belonged to someone else. After decoding the the ZIP code, I started playing around with the ZIP +4 codes by me. I found out that only the place south of me has the exact same ZIP+4 code as we do. That's it. Nobody else.

Happy Holidays Everyone!

Stay safe if you're travelling and remember Yogi's immortal words: "If you don't know where you're going, you might wind up someplace else"!

appliances in 2023

It was bound to happen.

On Saturday, our 1984 Whirlpool gas dryer broke. No heat.

About a year ago, I replaced the belt, which was likely the 2nd time, as I could see it had been opened up before.

But I've used it since Oct 2002, so prior to that.

From the paperwork, it's a 1984 model.

Powering A 12VDC Device Via USB Port (USB-C Adapter Vs USB-A Adapter)

I am looking for a device that will provide 12 VDC from a USB port.

The have found adapters on Amazon for both USB-A to 12 volt power outlet and USB-C to 12 volt power outlet. Which is the better choice?

Right now I am leaning towards the USB-C to 12 volt power outlet because it looks like it will offer more power than the USB-A devices.

What other factors should I consider?
