Garmin c510 and c530 hack: Text-to-Speech

I found this website when I was researching GPS systems. Try this at your own risk, perhaps you will get lucky and get this cool feature or you could get unlucky and have a very expensive paper weight. Perhaps some of you have already tried this.

Official Garmin API for Communication Between Third Party Websites and Garmin GPS Devices

Check the official Garmin Press release. Looks like we should soon have a bunch of web tools. Already have Google Map interface. Also of note is a mention of "secure" POIs?

This may have a huge impact on this web site if others plan to profit from the sales of "secure" POIs!!

GTMxx Update?

For the first time, I hooked one of my Garmin units up to my PC and ran Garmin's "Webupdater" (I usually save the updates to my PC and install them manually, call me old fashioned).
When I hooked the nuvi 660 up, I was told that my software was the latest version, so I clicked on the
"Proceed to check for additional updates....."

After getting my GPS, my dad wants one

After getting my GPS, my dad wants one, but his budget is $300. Which GPS would you suggest? I was thinking c330, but it was on the avoid list on GPSmagazine.com, but many of you seem happy with it. Do you have other suggestions?

Thank you,

Nuvi problem--better route

My Nuvi suggests that there is a better route is available, this is cool and all, but it does it so late. Basically it directs you the way it wants you to go and basically if I hadn't known the area I would get on the ramp/exit and then it would say "A better route is available" isn't there a way to make it say that at least a mile early?

address doesnt show on garmin330 anymore? newbie

Hi

I just got my garmin330 the other day. I have inputted an address and street name and it used to show. Now it only displays just the street name with no address when inputted. I deleted a saved location, not sure if that has something to do with it. any feedback would help? thanks!!!

One Week NUVI Newbie - Some Questions

Well, been playing with my Nuvi 360 and it on many occassions has me turning left when I know where I am going is on the right and vice versa. Went to Chili's this afternoon and it was sending me to one of the Chili's that moved locations about 2 years ago. Am I doing something wrong or are these things wrong that often?

Question about Nuvi 350 and saving location

Okay so, if I am looking at the map and I see where I want to go and I "click it"--it shows the route/city/whatever, then I get three choices: back, set location, Go. I don't want to go there, but set it as my favorite--how do I do that? Do you get what I am saying?

Thanx,

Very Newbish Question

Hello everyone,

I have a very noobish question and I may have some more later. What is Mapsource? Is this the program that has maps? A program that lets help you make a backup of the maps (Can't you just copy and paste the data from GPS into a folder?) What is difference between Mapsource and EasyGPS?

Thank you,

Where to Buy Garmin "City Navigator Europe NT v9" DVD?

Is there an on-line discount store for the Garmin City Navigator Europe NT DVD? I have found several places that sell the standard (non-compressed) version, but not the NT version. Is Garmin the only source to buy it?

What is your Nuvi missing?

Over the years, I've migrated from a Magellan receiver hooked to my old Palm m505 to a Garmin eTrex Vista to a Garmin GPSMAP60CS to the Garmin Nuvi 660.
Everytime I get a new unit, I use it for a while and think "This is much better than the last unit, but now I wish it had......"

Updating Nuvi 350

Hello everyone,

I am kinda worried updating (firmware) my Nuvi 350 because you know sometimes when they try to fix one thing, they end up messing another thing. Has anyone found any messups with the new firmware?

Thanx,

nuvi 660/BT phone/Aux Out

I pair my nuvi 660 with my Samsung Blackjack. For sound, I have the audio out jack of the nuvi connected to an auxilliary input of my vehicle's stereo. My question is this: Is anyone else doing this and does the person on the other end of the call hear themselves talking?
