The UK site AutoExpress tested a large group of GPS units with speed trap warnings. The nuvi 660 was the highest rated due to it's interface, routing, and warning abilities.

I used to think when you select the "Near..." option to search for a different city, it would display in the alphabetical order. So imagine my surprise when I entered 'Glendale' (next city from where I live) and didn't see Glendale, AZ show up (it's not a small city either with the population of 250,000+ and home to NHL Phoenix Coyotes and NFL Arizona Cardinals).

Just got back from a trip to SoCal. Put Sheila through her paces, but came up confused. I'll try to explain, then I hope someone here can explain what happened.

Driving west on I-210 in the Pasadena area, from I-57. Destination was to Pasadena City College (I forget the exact address).

Has anyone else had an occasional problem with the Nuvi (660) not automatically capitalizing the first letter of an entry? When it does happen, it usually is when I backspace to delete existing text. Sometimes it will auto-cap, sometimes it will not.

After six months the ball mount on my c530 became loose enough that the GPS would not stay in the set position. As I drove, the bumps caused it to drop. I removed the metal spring band and did my best to tighten it so it would grip the ball mount tighter. That helped a little but was not a total fix.

On my nuvi when looking at the satellite map there is a grey circle with a red dot on the outside ring. The dot changes position but I cannot figure out what it is. What does that dot represent?

I just received my 350 yesterday, and was out trying it out last evening. As I drove along one road, a strange blue line (obviously drawn) appeared irregularly, along the road I was driving on, on the map. This line disappeared in a mile or so and did not reappear until I got back to that specific portion of road a couple of hours later. What was I seeing?

Am I missing something on my 350?

I have updated to the 2008 maps on my c330. As you may know there is not enough memory on the c330 to load all the maps to the unit and you have to pick between Canada and the USA.

I am new to the POI world and have a few questions.

1. How do I know how much room I have on my c330 for custom POIs
2. Will downloading POIs from here erase the ones that were preloaded?
3. How do I create POI files?

Hi, owners of Nuvi 350:
Getting ready to pass on my 9-month old Garmin c340 to my college kid who will travel a lot for training. I want to replace it with Nuvi 350 or c550. Have a few questions:

1. Which gadget store has the best price and delivery record?
2. What do you like and dislike about Nuvi 350?
3. Can Nuvi 350 read POI off its SD card?

I have seen two major shopping malls in R'mond VA that weren't there before. Washington, DC has had a lot of contruction, has anyone seen any difference with the new maps in DC?

I bought a nuvi 200 and want to know if I can erase the map on the unit and update it with the North American NT v8? (the 200 only comes with the lower 48 states and I am in Toronto)

For all the talk about updating the map, people should be reminded that Garmin periodically upgrades the operating software too. I discovered by chance that there were several available for the nuvi and Map76 that I own, even though I had updated them just a few months ago.

Just received my disk from Provantage and proceeded to update my c530. Was given the choice between Lower 48 states and Alaska, Canada, and adjoining states. Confirmed this was due to memory capacity on c530.

Were can I get a collection of nice Nuvi 660 splash screens? I getso tired of turning on my 660 and seeing that boring screen. Can you add info on some of those?

Couple of questions concerning the 2720:

1. I have some custom POI's loaded by using POILoader in the manual mode. I specificed a distance alert for one of them. When the alert shows at the top of the screen, is there anyway to turn it off once you've seen it??

2. Is there anyway to turn off displaying the airport stuff, particularly airport names? Something I don't need as I don't fly.

I'll be in Taiwan, and was wondering whether the Nuvi 660 would work over there? In particular, where could I get the Taiwan maps?

Is there a particular GPS that would work good over there? I know I can buy GPS there locally, but all the direction prompts will be in Chinese. I would much rather have English directions.

Has anybody had an issue with their nuvi position being off by a hundred feet or so and constantly recalcing?

Does anyone using a Nuvi have an explanation as to why there is a lag time in showing your current location on the map when moving,usually around a second or two. I noticed when driving and I go past a road the vehicle icon doesnt show me at the road until I am maybee 100 feet past the road. I'm thinking that this is normal behavior of the Nuvi but would like to know why.
