Garmin talk

is there a reason why everytime it turns on it says new data found then next screen it says do u want want to transfer it to the garmin. the poi files are in my SD card. Is there a way for it to stop popping that message all the time. It says new data even though i didnt put any new data.

Is there a way to detour by road,,rather than just hitting the detour button and letting the garmin decide....Sometimes you get on a road and the traffic is bad, If i hit the detour button it doesn't always detour me of the road I'm on..sometimes the detour is on a road i will be on latter in the trip...

I,m having a problem trying to upload custom POI's to my nuvi 650.I have used the poi loader and get the confirmation that they were all successfully loaded,but when i look int the "extras" folder for custom poi's its empty.Did some reading on the site and looks like i,m not the only one having problems.The unit has very little free space on it (supposed to be 700mb internal i saw less than 50mb

I love the FM Transmitter feature, but don't like the static. I live in the DFW area and the radio stations are back to back here. So there is no good place to find a quiet channel.

Kudos to Garmin. They've been putting out some good and actually useful firmware updates where I can actually see change for the better. First, the 4.2 OS update made a noticeable difference in the increase of screen update speed. Just took my first trip with the new "chipset G" GPS 3.0 firmware update.

I live up on a hill, and the road leading to it is a big circle. When I leave home, I guess the route my GPS wants me to take, it must think is the shortest and the fastest. Perhaps it is indeed by 1/20th of a mile.
However, I prefer taking the other way. Instead of hanging a right to go downhill, I prefer taking left to go downhill.

This link works with google maps.....after you set your route you click a link that you have already saved in your favorites and it opens a gpx. file to save to note pad thus giving you a coustomize route.....I'm still experimenting ....sorry if this is a repost. Hello, first I would like I say I have a Garmin Streetpilot C580 and I'm really satisfied with this unit, it has really helped me navigate around Jacksonville, Florida for my new home. I'm required to do home visits and it has helped me to get around to many of the houses. Garmin also has been helpful, they replaced my unit once I told them I had a problem.

I tried sending an email to Garmin Tech say I have new Nuiv 660 and I would like to manage POI's on my home computer. I stated that I did not recieve any kind of software with my 660 in the box.

My reply from Garmin was a link to the POI Loader on the web.

My custom poi's are not all showing on the map at the same time. Only when a specific point is selected does it show up at all. Is there something I don't know here? I thought once the poi's are loaded, they will be on the map. Help.....

well i thought about the bean bag mount but i have a feeling its gonna fly out of my car.the AC vent mount just wont do it, plus i need all the vents i have.

Just ran Web Updater and it had the choice for GPS Chip Set Type G. I added it, not sure what it does.

Anyone else see this?

I was over at the Garmin site and these are "discontinued" I wonder if they will be supported with any software updates in the future.

We are aware of the mileage scale being removed on the Nuvi 660 and have passed this along to the Engineers. We hope to have this put back in when the next update becomes available. We are not given reasons why a
Qwerty keyboard has not been added like the 2720 unit had it added in a firmware update. I will pass your suggestion along to the correct
individuals.

We were having a new door delivered to our house today. While we were waiting we got a phone call from the delivery truck. They were lost. They then asked me how to get to our house. I immediately thought "I would just get them the directions from my Garmin 660".

Yesterday my c580 was loseing sattelites constantly, it wuold either say "POOR SATTELITE RECEPTION" or "LOST SATTELITE SIGNAL" did aybody else had the same problem yesterday, was it something going on with the sattelites or my unit broke? Any ideas?
