FM Transmitter Power - Nuvi 760

I love the FM Transmitter feature, but don't like the static. I live in the DFW area and the radio stations are back to back here. So there is no good place to find a quiet channel.

I did discover the factory test/reset screen and found a place where the FM Transmitter power output can be pumped up, and at the highest setting it works very well. But when exiting the test/reset screen the settings are not saved.

I could be very happy with the FM Transmitter performance, if the settings could be saved.

Does anyone know how to save these settings?

This is not directly answering your question but it might help:

Adjusting your antenna if possible

If your vehicle has an adjustable antenna, you can lower it to avoid reception of weaker stations, while leaving it raised enough to maximize reception from the GPSr. This works very well for me, but I know that most vehicles don't have that function.

Does you car stereo have an AUX input?

If not, many late model vehicles can have one added.

Look here: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/1749 for a previous discussion...

Adding Aux inputs: Here's where to look for the PAC Aux-Box and the PIE. Both sites have application guides where you can check compatibility with your vehicle...and you might call them to double check compatibility.

FM Transmitter

My car does have an AUX input, and when using it works very well. But I prefer the FM Transmitter (if less noise is possible) since it is plug and play. Just insert nuvi on base and go. The AUX cable slows me down and the cables tend to keep getting in the way of retractable cup holders and stick shift.

I noticed there is an aux mic input on the on base for the nuvi, does the nuvi have an optional cable for connecting the AUX through the base? It would make for a very convient connection it there was one.

I didn't realize that it had

I didn't realize that it had that feature, that is awesome. But I have personally found that even the best ones (when nothing is playing) has a bit of static, does the aux do too?

No Noise on Aux

The Aux input for the stereo does not have noise. It is a direct connect from the GPS to the radio.

Music will pause for routing instructions and resume right where the music left off after the instruction.

Audio routing instructions are suspended during a phone call and resume as necessary after the call ends.
