getting the csv/gpx files in the same folder as the bitmaps

Hey everyone. I have read the post from Motorcycle Mama..I understand what she's saying, except for one piece...how doI get the csv or gpx file on my computer?

Example: I just saved my own personal POI, a friend's house. I named it Wayne & Trish. I would like to upload a custom bitmap to represent their location.

I realize after reading her post that I need both the bitmap and the CSV (or GPX) file in the same folder in order to upload them. Obviously I can get the bmp file there, but how do I get the CSV file of Wayne and Trisha's location in there?

huh?

How did you save your own personal poi?
I think what you did was save it to your 'favorites'

in order for the custom bmp to work with a csv or gpx you have to first have the csv or gpx file.

a simple csv file can be created in notepad or excel.
csv file format

then create a folder that would contain the csv and bmp
how to load bmp

Then, you start garmin poi loader, and direct it to the folder containing the csv and bmp. That process will load the csv and bmp to your gpsr.
how to use poi loader

practice with simple csv files. you can create points around your neighborhood using google earth or a geocoder of your choice...something that will give you longitude and latitude. you can then do a simulated drive or an actual drive to check accuracy and develope your own method/preference.

back to wayne and trish, if you did save their address as a "favorite" you can still add a pre-loaded icon to favorites. ►favorites ►wayne & trish ► edit map symbol
There should be a couple of pages to choose from.

have fun.
