Garmin talk

Has anyone gone to Garmin Garage and downloaded some of the vehicles there? I tried this, following their directions..and it appeared to download, but....

I cannot find them on my Nuvi 360? Does anyone have a "clearer" explanation of how to download some of the snazzy vehicles?

Hello! I've just downloaded Redlight-Cameras.csv into my new Nuvi 660 using POI Loader. Original file when opened in Excel has 2665 rows, but Nuvi under Custom POI shows only 52. Is this kind of distance limit or what?
Same happenes when I load other custom POIs. For example, SanDiegoPOI.csv with 142 rows shows same 52 only. Any advise/explanation would be greatly appreciated.

Can I create a "track log" on my nuvi 350 while I am in an airplane to see the route we took across the country? I want to be able to upload it to Google Earth/MapSource and see our actual route?

Possible with a nuvi 350? I know I can with an eTrex Vista (which I have), but I'd rather use my nuvi.

I'm intending to get a GPSr for a friend who lives in Canada (BC) but crosses into the US frequently, so she'd need good coverage of both US and Canada. Can anyone fill me in on what models from experience have good map coverage of both areas, or if maybe a different manufacturer than Garmin might be preferable for this? Thanks!

Hello there. I'm a new Garmin user and a recovering Tomtom Nav 5 user. I received my new Nuvi 200 yesterday and am already impressed, but it will take some time to get used to it. The only thing I liked better about the Tomtom was the fact that it showed more info on the nav screen.

Ok I just got a garmin 660 and I have been trying (very unsuccessfuly I might add) to load poi's into it.

It happened twice today. As I am driving on the freeway, I get a voice alert saying: "Very close to HAD", or something to that effect.
The first instance, there was an off-ramp and the traffic was backed up. Second time it happened when I took my exit and the traffic was normal (however it is under construction).

When I first got my Nuvi 350 and was playing with all the options, I managed to get a blue vehicle pointer that was different than the other pointers that were in the Vehicle folder. I liked it better than the others, but could never get it back after I had played around with the other cool vehicles. It's a blue pointer, but longer and "pointier" than the standard one.

My Nuvi 200 finally arrived today. I downloaded the latest firmware, loaded it with my waypoints (now Favorites)from Mapsource, and took it for a spin. I was very impressed with how quickly it acquired satellites, as compared to my handheld Etrex Venture CX.

Am i correct that i should get an alert when i get near a POI i have installed ? I have not been out that far with the unit yet, just wondering am i reading things correct...Brent

Nuvi 660

I have a NUVI 200 and loaded some custom poi files on it for red light camera and for rest areas. I noticed I get the ding ding alert on it but the green bar never changes is this normal on the 200 - my NUVI 660 and NUVI 350 both change when I approach a red light camera they change to red.

I seem to be having a lot of traffic receiver problem.
The red light indicates no connection frequently and blinking orange for station search. I have looped the antennna (power cord) over the mirror and that used to help sometimes. I think it is connector problems on the cord or mount.

I have applied my map updates last week. I saw that the installation program also did unlocking of the maps and upgrading my firmware to 5.10.

Do you guys know what is new in 5.10 and what is the difference between 5.0 and 5.10?

recently i discussed that i purchased a new garmin c330 and that i was upset that it was outdated to 2005 with the v8 maps. well i called garmin and they said we give no discounts and were offering the update for retail cost only of $70.second time i called the same day the lady at garmin offered me a 50% discount.

Have a new nuvi 750.

Does the red light alert appear gray or red on screen. From what I've found on the net, sounds like it should be red. Comes up in gray alert box on my screen.

Speed camera alert though does come up red.

Anyone know if this is correct?

(dec.7) went to my account just looking at orders and clicked on cacellation (nuvi 650) to see what it said as to what happens or howto.i never cancelled the order.

Searching this and other forums, I've seen numerous references to the accuracy of various Nuvi models.

Usually, it's been expressed as "within so many feet," but I've never been able to find the method that was used to determine this result. I've searched high and wide, using every search term that I can think of, but still I can't find the method used.
