Garmin talk

I am thinking of pruchasing a new GPS for use on my Halrye and in my cars. How are the ZUMO 550's holding out? Any quirks?

Playing with my nuvi 200 around my area I notice that it's telling me to turn about 10-15 seconds too late. I know the roads I'm on and just playin' around. And the unit tells me to turn after I've already turned. Any ideas why the lag? Thanks

I bought a second nuvi a while back with order maps installed. I bought the latest update (2008) and installed it in ANOTHER unit. Can I install the maps on the SECOND unit or are the expensive map updates just usable ONCE on ONE unit? Thanks.

Why Can't Garmin Make a map software for the whole world? Like charge 1000$ for one whole World map downloadable for every Garmin. When it comes to memory issues the can add 1gb of internal memory to the new Garmin's/ still keep removable media option available

Any comment?

My nuvi 680 text to speech used to work fine earlier on my trips to LA, Sn Diego, and Vegas. But now in Hunstville, Alabama the text to speech has mysteriously dissapeared. Is this functionality limited to certain cities only. Right now my Nuvi says, turn right and turn left.

A few times in the last couple of weeks, I've gotten some fairly WRONG map jobs out of my nuvi 360.

On one I gave it an intersection at a road and a freeway. It ended up taking me to some townhouse a few miles away. Another time I gave it an address, and it took me several blocks away.

I use my nuvi 660 as a speaker for my cell phone through Bluetooth. In about 50% of the outgoing calls I make, after I press the call button on my cell or the the Dial button on the nuvi screen, I hear no ringing on the other end, and the first sound I hear is when the person picks up the call.

Is there a way to get the Coordinates of a Favorite on a Garmin C550, I have set a series of favorites and was hoping I could get the coordinates to begin creating a POI

My charger failed - Garmin is sending me a new one which is good but I just found out that the fuse in the Charger if it fails is almost impossible to find a replacement. Anyone on this board been able to find them? If so - where? Thanks.

I recently was browsing the Garmin website and signed into My Garmin, entered the serial # of my Nuvi660 purchased 8 months ago, and was presented with a free update to the 2008 map! Awesome! Very nice of them and wanted to spread the word so others will know and take advantage...

I just got a c550 refurb the other day and love it. I tried to download some mp3 audiobooks into an unused 1GB SD card and they were not recognized.

I tried putting them in an MP3 folder and tried to put them in the root directory of the SD card - no joy. They -were- recognized when I put them on the unit itself.

I just got a Nuvi 260 (my first GPS) and wondered when Garmin updates its maps. Also, how old is the most recent map information?

I gather that all maps have to be somewhat outdated because there's always new construction and business openings/closings/relocations, etc.

I just got a Nuvi 200, and so far I love it. I've noticed some screenshots on some of the postings for extra vehcile files, where you can see the vehicles in "side view" on the maps (in both 2-D and 3-D views). I've also seen a litte "N" arrow on the screenshots indicating which way is North. I can't get those things to appear on my unit.

Does anyone know a way to speed-up a simulation... or somehow make it do it's paces in drastically less time than the actual trip would take?

I have a C550 with the City Navigator North America NT 2008 map loaded. There is a neighborhood not far from me with some fairly new streets (about two years old, I think) that do not appear on my map. I realize that it takes time to get things updated, so I figure it's no big deal.

I know its been said before, but Garmin has the best customer service ever.

I called them up today because I needed a replacement mount. They are dropping one in the mail at no charge.

And if this isnt enough, the lady informed me that If I have my GPS locked, and someone steals it.

On my garmin 650 I have waas/egnos and it is off what is this and do I keep it off or put it on thank you Lucky

Hi if you don't know the address of a place you are trying to fined can you just put down the name even if you don't know the street or coordinates.Lucky

Thanks for all the great info on this site concerning gps devices from everyone. I have been trying to make a playlist so I can group different kinds of music together on a sd card instead of just loading mp3 files and letting the gps group them. Is there a easy way to do this so the nuvi 650 will let me select the playlist and play alright?
