instead of SD card. How do you remove them without messing something up! I guess I'm too quick on the trigger because I have loaded some POIs that I cannot remove using the POI Loader. Can someone please help me?

Thanks

Well, you should be able to

Well, you should be able to remove them with the POILoader. However, you can delete them as well. They are located in \\Garmin\POI folder (at least in the 350)

Hi rettollcapt,

The Mac POI loader doesn't have an option to remove "specific" custom POI's. You can choose to "remove all" the POI's, then you can just reload the custom POI's back on to your unit, from your hard drive.

Just remember, if you have a custom POI that you don't want loaded on to your unit, remove it from your POI folder, before you run the POI Loader.

I don't know how the Windows version of the POI Loader works, but it is probably similar to the Mac version. Maybe a Windows (POI Loader) user can chime in and help you out, if what I've described is any different on their operating system.

HTH (HOPE THAT HELPS)

The alert sound for POI does not work!

Hi all,

After downloading the MP3 and POI file and rename the same file name excepting the format (.mp3 and .cvs) and put in the same folder in my computer. Then I use the POI loader to load the custom MP3 and POI file in my Garmin 650 and finishing without any errors. But I do not not how come every time I approach the locations that I loaded in my custom POI on my garmin and It does not alert or doing anything.

I would appreciat if someone could help me to solve the problem.

Thanks

The file you have is the

The file you have is the alarms built into the file or did you use the manual mode in poi loader to set the alarm by distance or speed?

I used both case the alarms

I used both case the alarms which built into the file and the manual and either case work.

Make Sure

Make sure there is not a double extension on the file name of either the POI file or the mp3. As MM likes to point out, the default setting for extensions is to have them hidden and if you then add the .mp3 extension, it is doubled. Also, check one more time to make sure the names are identical, except for the extensions. In case you are wondering, this is not a hit-or-miss thing. It works 100% of the time, once things are set correctly.

If all that is correct, go to one of the POI's under Extras/Custom-POIs and choose one. Click Show Map, zoom in all the way, and make sure the icon is right on or adjacent to the street and that it is located where it should be.

HI Nuvi 660 Thank for

HI Nuvi 660

Thank for replying, I already check and I don't see any doudble in extention and the file name is exactly the same.

But when I og to POI's under Extras/custom POIs and choose one, when I click on Map and zoom in all the way and I dont see any icon except just a circle in that location. Is that because I did not download the right files ( .mp3 and .csv files).

Thank you and best regards,

Grey circle is default

A small grey circle is the default icon for a POI when POI Loader does not see a bmp file named the same as the csv file in the same folder; it has nothing to do with the mp3 file you have chosen. Likewise, choosing a "wrong" mp3 file would not prevent it from playing, it would still play whatever you picked. When asked for the source of the files, you should be pointing at the folder that contains the csv, mp3, and bmp (if you want a custom icon).

Have you reviewed http://www.poi-factory.com/node/6764 , to see if you can spot the reason?
