I'm bettting

I'm betting that upon closer inspection, you will find that the current POIs on your GPSr are only those in the second loading. See:

poi loader

Did your new set of files show up on your unit?
If they did show up, the reason that the original files did not show up, is due to the fact that when you load new files, the old files are deleted. You need to load the old and new files together.

poi load

i have upped both sets to my sd card, garmin is telling me that i cannot load custom poi,s to the card only to the internal memeory and that the combined files cannot be over 2 mb, i have the rest area poi and the campgrounds poi, i see it on the card, when i rebooted it it asked to load it i said yes, i see them in my extras but not all of them, only the ones close by. when i get closer to the others will they show up? also, ho do i deleate the file off of the s/d card if i need too.

thanks one and all for the help!!

1. When viewing a POI file on your GPSr, you will only see the 50 closest to your location, in order of distance. This will constantly update as your position changes.
2. What model GPSr do you have?

Garmin StreetPilot c530, Mapsource

SD Card

I never upload my POI's to the unit, I keep em right on the SD Card. I have over 7 megs of POI's on a 2 gig SD Card and it shows them all.

poi

ok, this is what i just got from garmin, they told me to make one file i did that they told me that when the pop up comes and states do you want to see poi even when the s/d card is out to hit yes, that this was the only way to do it, i have a c530, now if i hit yes wont this place it in my internal memory, and if so how do i get it back out of internal and place it on the sd card only?!

thanks everyone....

Poi load

The gps displays the closest locations to your present position. When you move these locations will continually change. You should be able to delete the file the same way you would delete a file from your computer.

ok thanks it

ok thanks it worked??!!

thanks again to all for the great help.....

Alert for Campground?

Do you really want proximity alerts for every campground you pass? I would not expect that you pick campgrounds on the spur of the moment and need to be alerted to the fact that there is one nearby. Using this particular file, I would normally expect that you would either be in the process of being routed to a campground where you have a reservation, or you would be scanning the list of POIs for those near a given area.

we travel 8-10 hour days it is easier to know where there at on the way... so if one is full you can move on to the next, no real VACATION plan that is boring....
