Garmin talk

I got this error message when trying to download POIs to c530 Street Pilot. I purchased a new SD 2 gig.... but this came up. "Not enough space on the disk" (I'll try to show the entire error message) It told me to send it to Garmin.... what does it mean? How can I download POIs? I'm a newbie...

I currently have a 2730 with the NavTraffic that I am happy with but considering buying a new unit and was curious as to what other Connecticut users are expericing with other traffic providers.

My mom does have an unit with MSN Direct and find the service useless as we are inbetween stong signal areas and always have to drive a bit before getting updated info.

Is there a way to tell which files have proximity alerts and need settings specified and those that do not such as NRP_Towers? Does express mode handle it? In reading descriptions of POI's I could not tell which was the case.

ALSO, how does one set alerts for "off road" POI's?

Garmin's website says neither the 200 nor the 255 support routes. However, this evening, when I selected new via points, the 255 kept the previous ones. I effectively created a route with multiple via points. The nüvi 200 only supported 1 via point at a time and replaced the previous one with the new one.

I have a StreetPilot 2730 with an external antenna for the XM Radio that plugs into the back. For the past few months, the unit has been displaying messages such as "XM Disconnected" or "Device Not Supported", even though the antenna is correctly plugged in. Whenever this happens, I usually have to unplug and replug the antenna, or turn the unit off and on in order to get the XM radio working.

I rented a GPS from Avis on a recent trip. It was a Garmin widescreen unit that is a customized model for Avis. I have to say I was not impressed with it. The screen was very slow to update and the directions it gave were not optimal (in the Boston area). My 260 seems much more zippier and the routes seem to be better (although I've not used it in the Boston area to be fair).

OK, anyone had a 770 for more than 5 minutes can answer some questions for me?
-Is there a setting that automatically updates the clock as you pass into different time-zones?
-Can the 770 display topography as with the <$200 Nuvi 205?
-How do you get POI's to display permanently on the map?

Below are links to some good videos of the new Garmin Nuviphone. If the navigation is as it appears here is like the current Nuvi line this would be very tempting. It also will mount in a cradle mount in the car the same as the current 700 and 800 series do.

Hey everyone, I had a friend make me an amazing custom widescreen splash screen for my nuvi, but when i set it through the garmin, it has a stupid black boarder, is there any possible way or program out there that can let me permanently set this to my garmin?

I am thinking about getting an FM traffic antenna for my Nuvi and was wondering if there is a particular antenna that works the best?

When driving in Bellevue, WA, I had two 7 MPH alerts go off but there was no school or speed restriction in the area. Why?

1. Along Bel-Red Rd. near NE 24th St.

2. Along 148th Ave NE between (I think) NE 8th St and Main St.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 255 and just loaded the POI file "Complete State Parks Combined List for the USA" CSV file from the POI Factory (Using POI Loader)onto my Garmin. In the Garmin the file ends up being located in my "Extras" file and is named "Custom POI". Is it possible to have the file called "State Parks" (which is what the CSV file is called) instead of "Custom POI" when using the Garmin?

Ok ,, Now I have another question for all the gurus.
I have an icon or picture that I want to use as an icon and I need to know how to resize the picture to 24x24 or the right size for an icon.

I saw in the FAQ sheet that the POI loader will not support the 478...Is there a loader I can use or an alternative method to upload POI's.

There is a street in my subdivision that is blocked that I want to avoid my Nuvi from routinely routing.

I downloaded mapsource and I located the blocked section on the map. I think I can set it as an avoidance but what do I do after that?

How do I get this update in my Nuvi? Can you tell me step by step? Thanks

The Send To function of Google, MapQuest and others is pretty cool, but it results in some annoying side effects sometimes.

I sometimes find that a Favorite that I had "sent to" from a web site suddenly reappears in my Favorites days after I had used it and later deleted it.

Anybody going into Philadelphia Pa on I95 the 2009 map is WRONG. If you get off 95 to go on 291 you will see part of route 291 is now a parking lot next to the Airport. I think garmin better get the stuff together, they have been working on that road for over a year now and its still not done..

I have a Garmin Nuvi 200 is there any way I get set it up to avoid streets that have load limits or say no trucks?

I have been working in getting pois on the sd card and have succeeded, however, I have another question. It appears that any poi's that I have on the nuvi are deleted when I put in my sd card. In other words you cannot have different poi's on the nuvi and the sd card because the sd card overides what is on the nuvi.
