Garmin talk

I created a route in Mapqest.com and successfully downloaded onto the Nuvi 760. I can see the name of the route (filename.gpx) in Garmin-->GPX folder when I navigate to that folder from the computer. When I boot up the Nuvi and went to Whereto-->Route, it's not there. What am I, or did I do wrong?

Has anyone in the Greater Atlanta area and suburbs been getting "Lost Satellite Reception" or "Poor Reception" on their Garmin. This just started yesterday on my Nuvi 350 and 760. Signal is there at start up and will drop off and restore later. Sometimes does not restore at all for duration of drive. ?? In fact, it is doing it right now as I type on the laptop..!

I have found some POI files I would like to install on my Kenwood 9140 (Garmin) has anyone done this?

One solution brings up another question. Now that I know how to change the format in my Garmin 255W I need to know whether or not the Garmin cares which I use. If I use the Degrees and Decimal Minutes format will it correctly apply a POI inserted using the Decimal Degrees format? Or do I have to reformat each time I use a POI from a different source?

Any Garmin users here upgrade to IE 8. If so, any problems with Garmin programs such as 'Webupdater', 'POI Loader' or accessing the Garmin Site.

Why is there no ICON for rv parks or campgrounds in the POI,s to make them easier to find??. Since there is supposed to be over 6 million poi's there must be lots of them in this catagorie. My old 'Magellan Roadmate 800" had loads of HEADINGS under poi's including the above; there are thousands of rv'ers and campers out there who need an easy and fast way to find them.

Apologize for many questions. Is it possible to add mp3 alert files for the built-in POI? Or is it only for custom POI? IF I installed the custom POI (like Starbucks, which is more updated than my GPS) wouldn't many of the locations be the same and just take more space?

Just bought a nuvi 260W and after registering with garmin was able to download a free maps update. Now my unit does not give me a VOICE turn by turn notice of the next street or avenue only the distance to the next turn right or left!! Anyone have answers to this problem??

Trying to download proximity alert from the sounds tab. How do I save it? I tried right click and it doesn't have Save As. If I double click the mp3 file, it plays it. What am I doing wrong?

I can't seem to find this anywhere, a yay or a nay. So my question is... Can you import any kind of satellite image or such to overlay the existing map? I think it would be a pretty cool idea if you had a big enough SD card for the region in question.

So I purchased the 760 because of the voice that reads the street names, but I've noticed that that voice is much quieter (volume-wise) than the traditional voice (even with volume set to 10). Does this happen to everyone else? It's pretty annoying. Anything I can do to make the "street name reading" voice louder?

I've got a nuvi 750 and I have a couple questions about the media player. It generally works pretty well and I think it's got a good design. However I have a couple issues that I don't see with any other mp3 player I use, whether it's on a computer or device (like iPod).

has anyone used this software??

Thanks for your suggestion regarding the different coordinate formats. Here's the problem
I have a Garmin 255W
For a test I punched "Where Am I" while sitting at home. I then put these coordinates into a New POI using "EXTRA POI EDITOR". Then, when I looked at the map on Extra POI Editor it showed my home site at a location about 50 miles to the south east of where I live.

Hmmmm, I wonder how this will do in the competitive world of smartphones?

I have a Garmin 765T. I planned a trip by entering coordinates I obtained from both DeLorme Street Atlas and Google Earth (by placing my cursor over the desired spot and copying the coordinates given).

When I navigated to these coordinates, I found that I was 300 to 1500 meters off.

I have read some posting on here and it was about a 50/50 split. Some liked the Free Traffic service and some like the MSN service. I can see the points of both and free sounds much better than pay$$$!
I as yet have not bough my Garmin - thinking of one that has Lane Assist - but not decided between MSN and FREE Traffic. Can you give me a short PRO and CON view of your situation?

My computer crashed and I am re-installing all of my software. Before the crash I had a Web Updater program in my Garmin folder. I have tried to find it on the Garmin website to download again, but all I can find is My Dashboard. I really would prefer the updater that was on my computer. Is it gone?

I am thinkng to upgrade my Nuvi 200 to a 255w. I notice that the 255w does not come with a usb cable for PC connection.
Can I use the 200 usb cable I already have?
How about using the SD card from the 200 containing all my special POI's.
