Missing Cities, No Match Found, FInd All Cities

I have a Garmin nuvi 650 that I bought in 2007 and I just bought nuMaps lifetme. i was abble to successfully load the map updates, and do address find in PA. Last saturday I went to Baltimore MD and found out a problem that i dont experience before the Map Updates, when I key in the Address like select state MD, then key in cities, it canno fince cities it normally see, I t can find annapolis or white marsh, instead i'm given the option to search all cities, and I end up with "No Match Found", I tried to put address in Virginia, and same thing happen, it cannot find cities i normally find befoier like Springfield, it just gives me option to "Search ALl Cities" and then a "No Match Found" error afterwards.

I tlooks like it does only when I key-in address in PA.

Anybody know's a soltuion to this issue? And BTW the CN North America 2010.10 map is check(enabled) when I check the map info.

I can't offer any help, but will say that with my nuvi 750, my 2010.10 map can find Annapolis and White Marsh, MD and Springfield, VA.

Try putting in the first three letters and searching. It should give you a list which includes the city that you want.

Something with your unit

I have a 660 (very similar to yours) with 2010 maps installed, so I tried it.

I touched:
Where To>Address>Spell State
I touched the letters M A R and Maryland poped up
I touched Maryland>Spell City
I touched the letters A N and 3 choices poped up
Andrews Air Force Base
Annapolis, MD
Annapolis Junction, MD

So, it seems to work for me. Do you have the latest software (4.70) installed?

Yes I do have 4.7 installed

Yes I do have 4.7 installed and just found out that in spell state, i key in New and only New Mexico and New York appeared, New Jersey did not show up.

O' come on you expect New Jersey to show up?
That is almost like expecting Puerto Rico to show up in a State search. wink

A bad update?

It certainly sounds as though your map update is not complete. Can you tell us how you performed the 2010.10 update with numaps lifetime and if any errors may have occurred? When you ran the big file that you downloaded from Garmin, was your nuvi connected to your PC--and did the update process appear to update the map on your PC as seen with Mapsource and also update the GPS unit? If you have Mapsource on your computer, can you choose the 2010.10 map and see if New Jersey appears with streets and cities. If New Jersey isn't there, then the map update or downloaded file from Garmin was incomplete or corrupted and you should download and install again. If New Jersey does appear in your computer's 2010.10 map, then the problem may have been the update process for the nuvi.

For what it's worth, it seems that most folks require about 2 hours to download the map file, then maybe another hour for the installation to occur. Does that match your experience?

Here's a link Motorcycle Mama recently posted on another thread showing the update procedure with a successful end:

One other suggestion before

One other suggestion before you retry a download - do a hard reset of your unit. I'm not sure missing New Jersey is a bad thing however.............lol

i took me abouttwo hours to

i took me abouttwo hours to update, i re-dowload update and rerun, it took about the same time. Unfortunately i got no luck, when i key for the starte, after keying in NEW, NJ is still missing, I key in Maryland for State and input input letter A for the City and it only showed Accident, MD. I'm called the Garmin support and still on queue for more than 30 minutes now.

dumb question, how do you do

dumb question, how do you do hard reset?

Search is your friend.

See subject.

solution from garmin tech.

Had the same exact problem on my 855. It seems that all regions is not enabled This is what solved the problem from garmin.

Thanks for contacting Garmin software support. I’ll be more than happy to assist you with getting the proper region installed to your Nuvi. Please follow the instructions below:

1. Connect your GPS to a USB port on the computer.

2. Save the attached file to the Desktop and rename to “Super Ultimate Nuvi fix.zip”

3. (Unzipping the file) Right-click on the Super Ultimate Nuvi Fix.zip and choose “Open With” and click “Compressed (zipped) Folders”.

4. Drag both files (Map Fix.bat and driveletter.vbs) to the Desktop.

5. Close that window.

6. Double-click on the garmin_rmu_cnnant2010C.exe file and wait for it to extract.

7. When you see the "Welcome to the Garmin Map Update." screen, DON'T click next, Instead, double-click on the Map Fix.bat file.

8. Press Enter and wait for the program to prompt for information.

9. Enter “006-D0322-05” (without the quotes) and press Enter.

10. Press Enter.

11. Click Next on the "Welcome to the Garmin Map Update." screen.

12. When it is done building the map image, click Exit.

13. Press Enter. This will start copying the gmapprom.img file over to the nüvi. It will take 45 - 60 minutes to copy over.

14. When it says "The mapping on your device has now been updated." press Enter to close the window.

The desired map region should now be on your GPS.
