Garmin talk

I recently got a 255w for xmas. Been looking at various websites for POIs to download. I am confused. How do you install a POI for starters. I bought a 2gig SD chip. Do you download the POI files onto the SD chip. And then there are these combined POI files. Below the Files there are more files for audio and icons. How do you install these?? Need help. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I have a 765t and trying to download poi alert sounds from the sounds section. they don't have a download button on them and when i right click it doesn't give me a save file option like it normally does. can somebody help please? thanks

I wanted to load some of those rest area csv files. d/l the bmp and also the mp3 file. Looked through the tutorial on "How do I load custom alert sounds for POIs on my Garmin GPSr?" Did everything it said. Used the poi loader to do the rest. Problem i seem to have is with the mp3 and bmp file. No where on my unit do i see the mp3 nor the bmp file.

So I'm thinking...
Maybe I should not be leaving the 755T in the car. I stash it in a small pocket out of sight in the center armrest. It gets pretty cold. Whenever I do use it, I plug it in so I can get traffic, so I'm not worried about finding a dead GPS battery, but I think it'd probably be better to take it out of the car.

The Subaru Dealerships U.S. and Canada POI file contains an error that kept it from loading. I found an entry with blank coordinates. When that line was deleted, the file loaded properly.

Is there a way to adjust the simulation speed of the Nuvi 255W besides having it in real time. Can you do 10X or 100x or something to speed it up. This would be especially good for long trips.

Hi everyone.....again...being new on here I try to do a search before posting. I came up empty...unless I am just blind....

I have the Nuvi 1690 & when I am connected to the computer & I am on my account for Garmin under the "myDashboard"

I have not been following the latest and greatest, and my 660 is still working great, but I am thinking about upgrading.

Which Garmin do you believe is the best Garmin out there I currentlty reside in SW Arizona.

Hi everyone.....I was looking at purchasing another Garmin unit.......the one that interests me is the Nuvi 465T (truck model)
Now I am aware that it is for truck but it can also be used for cars. It gives you the option for trucks as an over the road OTR driver or a delivery truck. The delivery truck is what I need the info on.

Hi, I am wishing all Garmin & POI Members a Happy & Safe New Year!!

I just bought a Garmin 265T and since my last one was stolen out of my car I though I should set the security lock on this one.
The problem is I am in Yuma for the winter and will return to Canada in the spring. If I set a "pin" here do I have to set the location too; and if I do can I reset it when I get back to Canada to my home there?

Is turning off my gps always to be done by sliding the switch to the left or to lock to the right?

Anyone else have an issue with the TTS voices skipping while navigating? I just updated software to 6.10 and hope it solves this issue previous SW was 6.00 and it appears to skip when the map is drawing.

I have a 265T with a receiver cable. Lifetime traffic.

I'm noticing a lot of Garmin units are going on sale but with the MSN service with x months. Same mini-usb connector.

There is a new voice called "Yeti" at the Garmin Garage. I saw this mentioned in a post when I did a search, but there didn't seem to be a thread on it.

The battery in my Garmin 855 is not holding a full charge. It only give me a half charge. I have had the unit since August 09. What could be the problem.

Will this file work on gamin Nuvi 765T?
