Nuvi 760 Voice Functionality

The TTS functionality (no voice functionality is kaput. Where would be a good place to start troubleshooting? Constructive suggestions are appreciated.

Laryngitis ?

My 750 used to stop talking for no reason I could determine. I found that if I selected a different TTS voice and then went back to the original, all was back to normal until it happened again. One of the recent FW updates seems to have fixed the problem as I haven't seen it since.

It goes without saying, but be sure the volume is up and not muted... Can you play an mp3 file?

If these don't fix it, check back, it is likely someone else will have other suggestions.

latest FW upgrades?

If you interrupted the extra ordinarily long "Loading Maps" process that the 760 will often do when the track log gets too large by shutting the unit down in the middle of the process, this will cause the problem.

Solution: restart the unit and let it finish loading; go into settings and enable the TTS voice of choice, once selected back out and go into "My Data" and clear the track log.

This should do the trick if the initial problem was as stated above.

Voice is now working

Hmmm... I was able to select from a number of TTS voices so it is now working. Thanks to all who made suggestions. I went ahead an cleared the track log. It would be nice to know how much data had accumulated, however, I am not sure how to check this. Maybe there is a file, whose filesize can be checked when connected to a PC? Would be nice if there was a daemon or service to manage the track log size [hint to Garmin] smile
