Power your unit on
Touch the wrench icon
Touch Settings*
Touch System
Touch About
You current software version will be listed on this page.
*Note: This step is not necessary on all models.

I wanted to know this for myself, because of a recent post concerning 7x5 Garmin units "freezing" up and the need to do updates.
Thought others might want to know whether or not their GPS needed to be updated.
