Garmin talk

I have the City & State 2010 Garmin Navigator update. I planned a trip from Denver,CO to McFadden,WY. Admittedly McFadden might be a small place but it is definitely not in CO. Does anyone know why a town, any town, would not chart correctly? I can understand a street but not a town.

Is anyone maintaining the Tim Horton's restaurant POI file?

I ask this question because when I read the description of that file, it says that it includes both the Canadian locations and a number of stores in the US. When I downloaded that file, I can't find any US locations.

Last Thursday night around 10:00pm, when I switch my GPS on, it showed me to be over 1 mile and a half North-East of where I was for about ten minutes. I tried to switch it off and back on, but it insisted that we were elsewhere.

Has anyone used the BlueChart software from Garmin?
I have an eTrex Vista C and would like to use it on my next trip to the British Virgin Islands.
It seems you buy the software, which I would have to download to my computer as the eTrex Vista C has no card slot.
I heard you then have to buy the various maps as well, that they are not included.

after reading a recent article about 2D versus 3D on Gary Hayman's site, I decided to run with the 2D mode for a couple of days to see how I like it.

in doing so, I remembered a "feature" that I believe was introduced with the 7X5 series.

I know it doesn't speak in anyway other than beeps when it's time to turn, but can it really be used as a road navigator in "emergency" or backup situations? Does it give the same quality directions as a Nuvi running the same map? I ask as I have one and was wondering if it would be any good as a road navigator in a pinch should my Nuvi ever die on a long road trip.

I have a nuvi 205W and would like to edit the current.gpx file with EPE to add more info. Most of the favorites have the basic info from when I added them manually and now I would like to go back and add info to the GPX fields that are available.

Hey there. First post with a dumb question. I have a Garmin Nuvi 200w. I downloaded a few POI files and uploaded them. I can see them in the Extras menu. When I select them, they will show the distances.

Has anyone else noticed that the ETA shown on the 765T doesn't change when the unit recieves an updated traffic report? I was driving today, and the planned traffic delay went from 2 minutes to 15 minutes, but the ETA didn't change. This really makes me wonder if the unit is actually finding the fastest route, or just telling you how much delay to expect if you stay on the current path.

In the world according to me (in my own little GPS world), the update of 2010 ver 4 is riddled with errors. I wish I had never moved from ver. 2 that came with the original Nuvi 1690. I made the mistake of thinking that a newer version of the map update would eliminate mistakes and not create them... I know...silly me. I used my one 'freebie' update when I went to ver 4 and regret it.

Can I use City Navigator to update my 760 or do I need to buy Lifetime Map Update? Does City Navigator have it's own update cost or is NuMaps used to update everything? I want to be able to plan routes on my PC and load them onto my 760. I also want to make sure both are the most up to date maps. What do I do? Thanks.

My Nuvi 765t takes 20 minutes to load the maps. Is that normal or is there a way to speed this procedure up?

Just ordered Red Light Camera POI but not sure how it works. When using my 255W to navigate from point A to B, does the Red Light Camera work on the bacground to automatically warn me when I approach an intersection which is being monitored by Red Light Camera? any set up on my 255W I have to perform for this feature to work ?

Does anyone know how to orient travel direction to the top of screen when off road?

When I first purchased my nuvi 205W I added several favorites that I now want to delete. I deleted them through my actual device but they will randomly reappear for no reason that I can see. I know it is the same ones I have deleted multiple times but I cannot figure out why they are reappearing.

ok, i finally bought a nuvi, but it doesn't have a truck route on it like my old c330. is there anyway to add a truck route?

I'm in the process of re-entering my favorites after the V4.80 to V4.70 Downgrade blew all favorites away... Due to the fact that V4.80 is buggy, and Delete's Red and Yellow lines on my Traffic alerts....

Usually I create a favorite this way:
Hit Address... Enter it, and his SAVE, and give it a name.

My Nuvi sometimes routes me one way going and another way coming back. Does anyone know why?

I recently purchased an SD card for my Garmin 255W and have taken the time to download a number of POI files from this web site. I was really proud of the work I did until I tested the files on my GPS. I entered a destination and then selected that I wanted to search for POI's along "My Current Route". I then went to Extras and selected my "Custom POI's".
