Problems charging my new 1690 (I think)

Got my new 1690 this past week and while I haven't yet seen any of the freezing or flickering issues that others have had - I am wondering if I am having a problem or not.

The issue:

I have had my unit on the USB charger now for like 5 hrs - and it has not fully charged - wondering if it needs more time or if I am really having an issue -

When I got the unit last week - I had the unit on the charger all day long and it was only charged 2/3's of the way - seemed a little odd - but figuring it was the first charge I didn't think of anything.

I also think that the battery life is short - but when the unit is turned on (and showing as fully charged) it goes to 3/4's charged within like 10 minutes....

Am I just being hyper sensitive due to all the other negative comments out there or do you think I legitimately have a power issue?

My 1490

My 1490 has the same issue as you describe. I think your seeing the same thing that all the 1xxx models display.

The new models have a shorter battery charge life than the older ones did and going from fully charged to 3/4 in 10 minutes is the way my unit has always worked.

No power issue as far as I can see. smile

thanks so much

I don't even use it all that much without the power attached anyway - I almost felt that I was "looking" for a problem - so I am not too worried - so far I love the unit and have seen no issues that anyone else has described so I will consider myself lucky. Add to that that the biggest issue is the ads - and that hasn't bothered me in the slightest yet.

get yourself a 1A universal USB charger

I use a 1A universal USB Charger. They sell them at WalMart. I charge mine overnight and it works fine.

Sounds like a problem

I just received my Nuvi 1690 this week from Amazon. It charged in 2 hours from the USB cable on my PC. Sounds like you have a bad one.
