Garmin talk

I tried to do the recent map update on my 1490 Nuvi and it says that isn't enough room and to choose a smaller map file.
I've deleted all my POI's and all the extra voices and languages and vehicles I can find.
What else to I need to do.

I've had no issues in the past.

As I was planning a trip to Wellfleet, Ma (Cape Cod) I came across this problem with Basecamp:

With the installation to NA 2012.3 my 855 is now showing some trails in the DC metro area. They show up as brown dashed lines in MapSource & BaseCamp. I first noticed the added trails while driving past the U of MD campus (N38.984 W76.943) on US1. Anyone else notice the addition of trails to 2012.3 in their area.

Both my 885t and my 765t required me to reinitialize bluetooth for them to show they were connected to my blackberry after I installed 2012.30. Is that normal? In both cases, they still showed they were linked but there was no icon on the screen for the phone. The phone also thought it was linked but I decided to play it safe and reconnect. Maybe it was just the icon didn't come up.

Is there a way to backup all your favorites and addresses so you can copy them to a new unit?

I have a Nuvi 3490

I have a sound file to go with my red light camera POI's. Works good but I do not hear the alert double bell. I used to hear both the bell and the sound file but some where along the way it disappeared. Any suggestion on how to get it back?

On my Nuvi 660 I'm confused as to why I am showing a duplicate POI.

On the Nuvi 660,in the Garmin\POI folder I have a POI Factory Redlight.GPI file. When I check the extras it appears there and functions properly.

I also have a 8GB SD card in the unit.
That has several POI's on it in the Garmin\POI folder.
Those POI's both display and work properly.

Frequently after I start my 855, traffic information does not appear. Checking the GTM status debug screen, it shows the status as "Initializing, SID 128."

This will not change until the unit is removed from the cradle and reinserted. After that, the radio channel is locked and traffic information is received almost immediately.

There is a missing road by my house, I don't want to wait 6 months for a fix (I reported it). Can I add the road manually? On the Gps directly or on a PC program. It is a Garmin Nuvi 1450LMT.

I'm confused. I've been following the discussion about the Junction View file that either does or does not get downloaded as part of the NA 2012 maps.

I got a Nuvi 1450 and lifetime maps in July of 2010 and had a fully functional Junction View on the 1450 straight out of the box. After a map upgrade (I forget which one), I lost JV.

Quite honestly I get confused over all the different and sometime subtle differences between all the Garmin GPS offerings. I'm seeking input and opinions on the difference between the 2555LMT and the 1490LMT and which one is better in your opinion. Sam's Club has the same price for both so no difference there.

I want to back up my Nuvi 765t but I forgot how to do this. I found the post by jgermann but it doesn't seem to work with Windows 7. Any help would be appreciated.

I downloaded the 2012.30 map last night. Took awhile but it downloaded. Anyway, when I try to shut off the 765t, I have to hold the shut off button before it shuts down. Now it is shut down but won't restart. Is there anything that I can do?

Hi, so as you probably figured I deleted in past some unneeded files like Vehicles, Voices, Text and Help files.

However it occurred to me that if I ever wanted to restore it to full factory state (with just updated firmware and maps) then I won't have the Text and Help files that I deleted

For the GPX experts out there, I created a file with copious amount of information in EPE and have problems with both my GPSr

If I place the text in the Comment field my 2460 clips after a large number of characters is displayed, my 260 doesn’t show the [More] button.

Street Pilot c550 was working fine until 2012.3 map update. Now, when I zoom out on map (or to view a route) to 120 miles, unit takes almost 2 minutes to load map and some random states will be blank or partially blank. If I zoom out to 200, 300 or 500 miles the screen goes blank and doesn’t even say “loading map”.

How do I install an mp3 file that I found here onto the Garmin?
