Ads and routing on 24xx and 25xx series

Just how bad are the pop-up ads on these new models? Do they block out pertinent data?

With my 1490 I bought the subscription to Clear Channel reporting mostly to get rid of the ads.

Now that my 1490 is becoming less and less reliable with constant reboots and I am about a year beyond the warranty period, I am about to spring for a newer unit. Also, verbal commands offered with the newer models do offer some enticement for an upgrade. (Firmware on the 1490 is current and I have done master resets numerous times.)

Another concern is customized routing. I like to be very specific about pre-establishing the roads I want to travel using Mapsource. I realize that Basecamp has replaced Mapsource as the mapping program that newer units can communicate with. I do not like Basecamp in its current state of development. But, its easy to create a route in Mapsource, then copy/paste that route into Basecamp for transfer to the GPS.

The question I have for users in my situation is about how well the newer models do with respect to routes transferred to the GPS.

ADS

Own 1350T and the ads are no problem. Very small and I don't see that they block info. They do not pop up all the time, maybe 2-3% of the time its on.

I can speak on the ads.

I can speak on the ads. Basicly each to there own. There are some that just hate them. For me and others they are unobtrusive. They are small and only there when you stop. They go away when you start. As of today, I did numerous stops and saw none.

don't be concerned

I agree with others, the ads are small price to pay for the traffic service, they only show if you are using the traffic cable, on battery or a regular old cable they are not there, when they appear it occupies a small portion of the screen and go away once you start driving.

They're not bad - and they

They're not bad - and they disappear when you're going more than a minimum MPH, I think around 5-10 or so. So they won't block much.

My Nuvi2450

My 2450 does great with routes.
Just went to Port Aransas and it did great with the to and from routes I made in MapSource before we left.

Haven't tried to use a route made in BaseCamp yet.

Do so like the 2450 a lot. Don't have traffic so can't tell you anything about that. Am retired and don't have any use for it.
