Garmin talk

I went to load POI's onto my Ram 2500's radio, which is the 430N. This is not a Garmin GPS, but, it does use Garmin's software. Custom POI's are supported, but, the instructions on how to do so are a bit lacking, specifically with regards to naming & POI file selection. So I'm writing this.

Does anyone have any idea as to the comparable Garmin unit to the UConnect 8.4AN unit that is an option in 2014 Jeeps?

I've read some things about the UConnect system and it appears that some owners are having problems loading custom poi, getting alert sounds to play, and updating maps, etc., from NavTech.

This is a pet peeve of mine. My 3790 has quite a few decent map symbols. My 3590 ones are crappy. So...what can I do about that? As far as Garmin is concerned....nothing.
Mapsource is a garmin product. If one loads favorites into it, one can highlight each entry and change the map symbol,

Ok Best buy has this on sale for $129.00 and I was thinking that it would be a nice upgrade from my Street Pilot C550. I am so confused as there are a lot of different model Garmin GPS units. Is this a unit that Garmin is not going to support anymore? What are all the differences between all the models?
Is the Garmin Nuvi 3590 LMT much better and is it worth the extra for $399.00

I downloaded several poi custom icons from the icon library on this site. I made sure the file names match the poi csv file name, except for extension. I followed the steps given here: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/4359

But my nuvi 2460 displays only the default gray dot. This is the case in all views. How do I get the custom icons to display?

Once I attach my c550 to my PC..... none of the answers regarding transferring favorites are relevant to the information on my screen i.e. none of the Garmin files available respond to the information given. I have been at this for 6 months and so far no help. I just keep re-entering data manually on the new unit...I have about 900 address to go.

When I load poi that I've d'loaded from the Factory, using Poi Loader for Mac, on the "Express" setting, I get nothing in terms of sound alerts on my nuvi 260w. When I check to see if the alerts are registered by going to custom poi and touching the first entry in a category, no alert shows on the screen.

I would like to know where I can get info on what Canadian Cities (also US) that have traffic support with the NUVI 2555 LMT.

Does anyone know where I can access this?

And when I push the on button it will say its loading maps, the make a noise and turn off again. It will do this at least seven or eight times both attached to the car charger or with battery then at least up to now will start up again and continue to work. This has happened several times. Any ideas as to cause?

I have the Garmin Nuvi 465LMT. i bought it in October of 2011. When i go to type in an address the number below what i touch is entered, it is if the whole screen has moved downward.

The things Ive tried to calibrate the screen and failed:

Hold the power button to the left for 30-45 seconds until calibration screen pops up.

Hold the top left side of screen while turning on the device.

Chrysler offers a multimedia system in passenger cars and SUV's such as Jeep Grand Cherokee. Within some of the UConnect systems is a Garmin GPS unit.

Are there any UConnect users "out there" with suggestions, questions, concerns? I've read several posts here at the Factory, and would like to get more info for myself as well as create a place to exchange information about this GPS unit.

i accidently shut garmen express down before i hit the finish button while installing the new firmware version 7.80. when i try to reinstall 7.80 again with garmen express it hangs up and says connect device to continue even though my nuvi 2455 lmt is connected. i then went to garmins website and tried to find updates and a "no device is located" appears when i hit find device.

Hi guys, I just bought the garmin nuvi 50 lm today and when i was trying it out, i found something wrong with it. I entered a destination for somewhere only 30 mins away at around 11:50 AM today, but the arrival time says that i will arrive at my destination at 10 PM. How can i fix this?

Can I ask - How do you turn the annoying voice off, I wish to keep the alerts on, but get rid off the annoying woman who cannot pronounce Road names correctly.

Have purchased a NUVI 50LM, my first Garmin in 9 years and am slowly working out how it all works - had Tomtoms for 9 years before they got cheap on the manufacture and started using crappy processors, software and touch screens.....

I'm working my way through getting my nuvi 260w "upgraded" (read do what it should have been doing all along, but its owner isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer).

I needed to convert some .wav files to 16-bit mono .wav files and I came across SoundConverter. It worked great for me. I used the Mac version, but I noticed there is a PC version also.

Recently I had to reinstall Windows on the computer that I use to load my Garmin GPSr. I went to get the latest copy of POI loader from the Garmin website, but when I tried to install it, it informed me that I needed Media Player 11 or newer on the computer to install it.

I think I've tried everything. Can't get to my Custom POIs via voice command and can't create a Shortcut to them either. I don't like how deep they are buried in my new 2595 menu. Has anyone found a way to get to them without having to press 6 buttons?

I downloaded a four second steam train whistle .wav file to use as a general alert sound for several of my custom poi. I changed the .wav file name in each instance to the exact wording of the .csv and .bmp file for each poi.
