nuvi 3590lmt - import .gpx file issues

I have connected my nuvi 3590 to my computer, opened the drive and put a .gpx file in the GPX folder. I cannot find the .gpx file from within my device. I have read through the FAQs and done a search on the internet and I cannot find the answer to this question for my device. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What is in the GPX file?

If it contains waypoints or routes, they should import automatically as Favorites or Trips. If it contains custom POI's, you need to load it with POI Loader instead of copying it to your nuvi. If it contains a track or trip log, it will not import.

Are you trying to put favorites from one gps to another or a single favorite? If putting the complete gpx file from one gps to another make sure to rename it temp.gpx then put it in the gpx folder. You should see them under favorites.

If putting a single favorite(gpx)you need to have it formatted correctly. Been a while but I used Extra poi editor to put all the information in required for the single favorite and use the send feature in EPE but you could drop it also in the gpx folder but rename it. Make sure to reboot gps after moving the files. They will be incorporated into the current.gpx file.

If you have Mapsource.

In order to make a backup of your favorites, please follow the steps below:

Make sure to use the newest version of MapSource. The file can be downloaded at http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=209
Connect the device to your computer's USB port using a data transfer USB cable
Open the MapSource program, click Transfer
Click Receive from Device
In the pop-up window, confirm that Waypoints is checked
Click Receive
From the main menu in MapSource, click File and then select Save As
Choose a location on your PC to save this file and name it
Click Save
Once transferred, you can check to see the waypoints in MapSource by clicking the Waypoints Tab.
