Nuvi 660 Says Maps are Outdated - They're Not

Anyone have this issue? I have lifetime map updates on my Garmin Nuvi 660, and also make sure I use the tools to select only the latest map once it is downloaded and installed.

Yet, every once in a while, when I boot up the unit, it will tell me I'm using older, outdated maps, when there's no way that's the case.

This just a Garmin 'quirk' with some units?

Wait a minute... who am I here?

.

We've recently had this reminder message pop up on a nuvi 750 which is up to date. I would just ignore it. I believe all nuvis will display the message at some point, regardless if you're updated or not.

Thanks!

I've got a Nuvi 1450 with lifetime map updates and I've never gotten that message. I use the Garmin Map Updater program and update the maps whenever new ones become available.

I saw this once.....

A little over a year after I got the unit...
Prior to the first Map upgrade.

The first map upgrade I did was a single map upgrade as it was before I found this site, and found out that a lifetime map upgrade was available...

I have not seen this since, and it was only because you described it as you did, that I even remembered it happening....

A 2689LMT in both our cars that we love... and a Nuvi 660 with Lifetime Maps that we have had literally forever.... And a 2011 Ford Escape with Nav System that is totally ignored!

I got mine pop up on a nuvi 765 with up to date maps. Just ignore it.

When?

Never seen that. When do you get these messages? When you connect your GPSr to your computer? And where? On your computer or on the receiver itself? (just curious)

.

The message pops up on the GPS in normal operation (not connected to the PC).

Update Map Screen

One issue that will definitely cause this to happen is if you have 2 maps on the unit and one is an older map, even if it is unchecked (disabled). The same goes for if you have a new map on an SD card but have an older disabled map on the unit's flash drive.

If you only have one map on the unit, then there is something else causing it.
