New Maps Yet?

When can we expect the second quarter map updates?

(Thought I may as well start the string now ...)

2014.10

I will start looking for it early to mid May. That said, I wonder if the the next map will be delayed because of the fiasco Garmin has had with the CN Europe 2013.40. They pulled that map after it was released and have said it will be re-released about May 1. So I could see that causing a delay in the 2014.10 maps.

I always check this source for ESTIMATED map updates.
It also shows prior release dates.

Thanks. I am actually

Thanks. I am actually replacing my old Garmin (880) with the new 3597 when released in early May (already pre-ordered from Amazon). I wonder if that unit will have the newest map set pre-installed? Then again, I doubt it, given that I am sure these models are in production and the to-be-released map set is probably not ready ... will likely need to d/l and install the second qtr map update when released.

You will get a free map update with your unit. I believe it is within 90 days (could be 30. I don't recall) of the unit acquiring a satelight.

Lifetime maps will be included

That looks like a nice unit.
I have one of it's predecessors, the 3590.
I would probably check for updates and maps first thing anyway just to be sure.

used to. but no more.

Since the areas I frequent don't really have any new roads and Garmin is really slow on updating maps. I now only check the new map once a year. I think, that's enough. Besides, there is always online maps on the smartphone as the last resort.

I believe

I believe the policy now is that you get all the map updates that become available within 90 days of acquiring satellites. So it would be possible to get more than one update under Garmin's NuMap Guaranty. Of course if you purchase a LM or LMT model it will include free updates for the life of the product anyway.

I just cancelled my 3597. Im thinking of going to the new Tomtom GO because of their better traffic updates.

Re: New Maps Yet

Haven't even updated to 2013.40 yet, but I think I will now rather than wait for 2014.10...

Thanks for that link!

Release Day Of The Week

You're very welcome.

Interesting observation about release dates. Going back to January 2009, Garmin has never released a map on a Monday or Friday. A Wednesday or Thursday are the favored days.

I received the 3597, and updated numerous pieces of software, including the maps. It came with 2013.3, so I updated to 2013.4. No big deal, since it comes with free lifetime maps. I was a bit surprised by all the software Garmin Express advised was "new" and available. It took a while to update, power off, scan for updates again, update again, power off, etc., etc.
