Garmin talk

and you see a POI. How do you mark it?

I have terrible memory, and by the time I get to where I'm going I tend to forget.

Any advice?

I just bought a Nuvi 50LM. To check it out, I asked it to take me home from a local park. The very first intersection, it told me to turn the wrong way. The street was a dead end about 100 yards from the intersection.

I can't believe this. I have a Garmin 750. I will be driving from Chicago to San Diego on Wednesday. I just loaded in my hotel stops. Once finished I decided to check my location. It keeps showing me 45 miles north of my current location. I just loaded new maps (I have lifetime maps). Also, when I tell it to take me to a destination, the route is all squiggly and makes no sense. Any ideas why??

Just loaded the new update (no choice) for Express, I think it was 14.1 or 2. Went to check for 3590/2460 updates and now get "can not connect to garmin services. It recognized both units and some features worked but no unit updates/extra's etc. Reinstalled new update several times but same message. Anyone else having this problem with the update. All previous update worked flawlessly.

Am a novice at this but am asking where I am going wrong in installing poi to my garmin nuvi when ever I down load a poi file to a folder on my decktop I double click to extract it all I get is a messdage saying windows cant open this file could smeone e-mail me with info wah I am doing wrong Thanks Paul

I have a Nuvi 2555, which I'm trying to update via my Mac desktop. North America 2014.20 has been updating with Garmin Express for more than 15 hours now and has been stuck at 190 items of 191 for at least 10 hours. If I disconnect the GPS before it finishes, will I be able to use Map Updater to update the map or will I totally screw everything up?

I recently deleted the safety camera data pre installed on my Garmin nuvi. Without subscribing to anything, is there any way of re-installing the camera data.

I was shopping at Cabelas in Rogers MN today and I happened to see that they were carrying Hunting GPS Maps. I have never heard of those before, but I became interested after reading the details about it. Anyway, I am just wondering if anybody here is using Hunting GPS Maps and, if so, are they worth the price?

I connected to Webupdater a today and found an upgrade to 8.1.

As usual it includes the line about Improved Software Stability that was mentioned in other software updates. Haven't been able to try it yet, but expect no problems.

It's dated Sept 24, 2013.

I have an older vehicle cord which was used for the cradle of the Nuvi 6?? range with the traffic receiver connected.

I'd like to convert the cable for mini USB for use with the Nuvi 3590 in the second car.

Could anyone help me with the wiring diagram or any way to do this please.

I just bought a 2460LMT, took out yesterday and did not hear any sounds from the custom POI's that I installed. I used POI loader just the same way that I did on old 1490. The only setting I can see for sound is single tone or continuous tone. Am I missing something or not available?

Lately I am having an issue with my desktop computer running Win 7 not recognizing my 3590. The 1490, 750 and 76csx all work fine. As does the 3590 when connected to my laptop (also running Win 7) and using the same cable.

I recently moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth area (as anyone following my thread asking about the best driving route from NY to Dallas knows). I spend much of my time in the Arlington/Mansfield area and it seems that my Garmin doesn't like this area of the country, despite the fact that I have the most recent maps.

My question is on a Nuvi 750, when connecting to a 110V wall charger, does the BATTERY ICON WITH THE LIGHTING BOLT APPEAR.
When I plug the Nuvi into my Garmin OEM 110V wall charger, the battery icon immediately disappears and only the time is showing.

I have a Nuvi 50LM. When I try to load a POI file it shows on my computer as having been loaded, but when I power up the GPS I can not find them. This model does not have a port for a SD Card. Is it not possible to load files to the GPS's internal memory.

I am again struggling with Mapsource. My old computer is dying and I have made the transition to a new Toshiba that came with Windows 8 whether or not I wanted it. I do not like windows 8 simply because of the learning curve. I do not want to start yet another one.

I keep getting speed alerts for 2kph, 4kph etc. what's with that?

I have two Garmin navigators (2597, 2495). When comparing the estimated driving time between the two units I get considerable differences. They suggest the same route, have the same 2014.20 maps, the latest firmware, no traffic activated, newly reset, no myTrends etc activated yet the estimated travel time differs 5 minutes on a 20 min drive. Thats an estimation difference of 25% .

Can anyone tell me how I can replace a built-in alert, like "Home... on left" with my own custom mp3 file?

Also, how can I match up a custom POI with a built-in icon, e.g. an ATM with the dollar-sign icon, etc.?

I have a Garmin Nuvi 295w. I want to splice in, connect to the supplied Tom Tom wire (hardwired from factory on motorcycle) that is outputting 5V with 2 wires 1blue, 1 green. The Nuvi mini usb has 1red,1black, 1 white.
