Nuvi 50 & topo maps

I copied the Garmin topo files from the computer to an 8gig micro SD in the Nuvi. Any idea how to access and use those topo files for my offroading?

TIA,

Copied?

What format are the files?

Typically, you would LOAD (not COPY) the maps using some software on the computer. (Unless the files are already compiled.)

I copied and after reading

I copied and after reading your comment I deleted. I then used "Map Installer" that is part of the Garmin topo disc. Still can't find it! Any suggest is appreciated.

If my suggestions below don't help, tell us your GPS model number that's being used and also tell us the number of map segments and size of the img file you're trying to view. There are max values for both map segments and file size that result in a usable map depending on what device is being used.

Have you gone to your device's MapInfo or MyMaps page? What do you see there? In a nuvi, there should be City Navigator, your routable highway map, and any installed topo maps. Are topo maps shown? To display the topo map, many nuvis require that you uncheck (disable) City Navigator and check the desired topo map.

I have the old Garmin topo maps installed to SD cards that work with my nuvis and eTrex as well as the detailed Arizona Topo map that works as well:

Where did the topo maps come from?
What format are the files?

My guess

Until we get a response, my guess is that it's the Garmin 1:100k USA topo maps:

Let me know if I'm wrong, Jim.

Thanks to Craig W

I followed the info that you provided and SHAZAM it works. Thanks
