Zumo 595 Problem

I have a new Zumo 595. I've uploaded the cameras POI file that worked perfect in my old 665 but it does not seem to show cameras or play the custom sound.

Anyone have a though about this? Of course Garmin isn't much help.

Thanks

Use wav and sox.exe

Didn't you use MP3 files for voice alerts on the old 665? You will need to use wav files and sox.exe for the 595. See http://www.poi-factory.com/node/25730 for instructions. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsJTUmvb6_o for video version. Not if you have a mac computer the sox.exe will not be needed according to posts by mac owners on this site.

Yep ...

I've just said the same in reply to his post on the Zumo forum smile

zumo 595

The odd thing is that the 595 has a MP3 player according to the Garmin spec's. So it seems like POI Loader should work with MP3 files as well as SOX/WAV. Apparently Garmin has changed something in the zumo 595 MP3 player that prevents POI Loader from recognizing the MP3.

Well, I think I figured it

Well, I think I figured it out. I actually made two changes and don't know which one did the trick but here it is.

I was uploading 5 different POI folders with custom sounds in each as one big POI file using Garmin's POI Loader (Mac). This method always worked on my 665 but his is what did not work on the 595.

I erased that file and uploaded each folder as a separate POI file again using POI Loader. You can see the separate files in the POI folder on the GPS.

I then turned off Garmin's Red Light file.

Now it works.

Interesting.

That is interesting Charlie. In the spec' list they have a check mark for MP3 player. That is what I was going by. Maybe Burtsr can confirm whether it can or can't play MP3 files stored on internal or SD storage. In any case, there must be something different about the MP3 capability from earlier models. Otherwise, I would think POI Loaderwould support it.

I too seen that listed in the specs. Also would like to know what type of file the OP is using.Mp3 or Wav? Reading post he says custom sound. Could that mean the default(bong) sound?
