Garmin North American 2016.10 Map Update

Just doing my part to make it 10, LOL.

And that seems to be what's happening... Bet we only see 3 updates this year... Sometime in the future, We'll only see 2 updates.. And eventually it I will be no updates

It makes no sense to start it after its been released!

It was only six year ago or so that you had one update a year and you had to pay for it. No lifetime map updates. I have had lifetime updates on my Nuvi 765T since 2010 and have replaced the battery twice (first replacement was cheap piece of garbage that lasted about a year). I hope to keep the device going for as many years as the maps support it. Garmin probably does not want to hear that but it works well for me and I see no need to scrap it and my lifetime traffic.

I do every update on my 660.. It is limping but it still works, and I'll be damned if I in-inadvertently forget to do a Lifetime Update and have Garmin tell me I don't have Lifetime Updates any more!!

Really? Some people just got the new update lol.

Now that it's out, maybe I should update, although I updated a week ago to the now old map. The new map (now old) was terrible going thru Dallas. It wanted me to get off the interstate and go thru downtown Dallas and then get back on the interstate. I did not do that obviously but my old old map did not have me get off the interstate. Traffic was medium and no delays present on the GPS and heavy traffic delay reroute off, so it was not a traffic reroute. The new map (now old) apparently thinks the Interstate thru Dallas ends there. Wish I could get the old old map back, but maybe it's fixed in the newest map. I am not holding my breath.

Garmin releases the maps to a group of testers before general release. He must have found a site offering the map since Garmin doesn't have it on their servers yet. The FID number is a way to determine if the map is real.

I would guess that it is not necessarily the final version?

Unless something unexpected happens such as a catastrophic error like with the time zone map, this is likely to be the release version, once Garmin uploads it to the server.

I just got around to downloading 2015.4 a couple of weeks ago...

It's not out until it can be downloaded from Garmin's servers. Any examples found in the wild are an untested product.

Just checked this morning, I'm up to date with 2015.40. Nothing new.

Probably be released to everyone this week or the first part of next week.

Well, at least we know it's in the pipeline.

If Garmin releases the 2016.10 map update in the next few days, this 2016.10 map thread, now at only three pages, won't be nearly as long as the nine pages of the previous thread on the 2015.40 map. Maybe this thread on the 2016.10 map should have been started weeks earlier.

Garmin got tired of the 9 pages of posts. LOL

to the 2015.40 just last week. So as an aside note ... and completely off topic ... does anyone know where to find the poi verifier since RT went awol? ... This post is also my part to get to the next page.

ive seen it on a few other sites with the new JcV files full and lite so the official release cant be far behind so I can wait that way I can gripe at Garmin if something's not right lol

The European version was released about 2 weeks ago, the NA about a week ago. Of course, you can find them from other sites. Out of curiosity, I downloaded and installed it on my units, checked it using Mapsource and BaseCamp. Not much change in my area. It should be out on GE this week or the next.

I just like to know, what for download anything from other, "unofficial" sites if you have official update from Garmin? Is it worth risking viruses and other junk to infect computer just to have map couple weeks earlier?

Not only is it a pretty silly idea to download updates from these pirate sites, it's against the policies of most all legit forums to even discuss doing that.

I had to completely reload one laptop from scratch and also installed the 2015.40 version to the computer.
NOTHING else available yet!!!

Download from a site that with one line of code could disable or ruin your gps for the sake of saving a week or two.

I swear I just posted here, but can't find it!!!

Anyway.... I'm back from vacation... Has it been released for download from Garmin site yet???
