Garmin North American 2016.10 Map Update

They are just teasing.

I saw the title and thought, "are they kidding, it is out already?". Then I realized it is the pre-pre-announcement thread.

I have to admit, in the last two or three cycles, I have not been too quick to update as my area has been static for several years now. I reported many updates and they were all incorporated. The only one I have never been able to get fixed is the speed limit on a road in Farmingdale, NY. They just do not seem to be able to add the information I submit so there is no speed limit shown at all on my device.

Are we there yet?

Is there really an updated map for Viago?

Garmin has posted the CN NA 2016.10 manifest on its servers. Hopefully we will see the update released within the next 10 to 15 days.

Lately I haven't been as interested in keeping my GPS receivers up to date. Must be because I'm having too much fun flashing custom ROMs on my phone.

But that does remind me that I do have an update to my POI file to work on this week.

I'll update Garmin Express just before doing the update, that way I'll be sure to have the latest and most recent version

I appreciated & found extremely useful your posting in the 2015.40 thread on all the new files along with their sizes associated with the mapset.

In doing so, it's certainly much easier for those of us who use your cloning method at knowing what to look for when copying the new contents onto the unit.

you need the offline maps, just access Viago and it will tell you that a map update is available and follow instructions from there.

Nope! not for me, and I have had the North America maps from day 1 when I purchased Viago. I would be surprised if Garmin provided a map update on this discontinued product .... but then again, c'mon Garmin ... surprise me!

just updated mine to the latest 2015 map, I guess I will wait awhile before updating to the 2016.

CN Europe 2016.10 was released today. The manifest for Europe was posted on May 6 ... 13 days. The CN NA 2016.10 manifest was posted on May 16.

Good info from a contributor of the week! 10 days...so maybe June 1.

Another road trip planned soon. Would like to have the most up to date maps.

Las Vegas should be involved, with an over/under date.

It seems that both Yahoo Maps and Here.com have the new map data uploaded. The maps you see at those sites should be what the 2016.10 map will have. In my area I see no new streets, but there is much more accurate railroad data.

Why is there such an interest in speculating when these updates come out?

We have no control and Garmin doesn't care!

Update will not occur until you are home from vacation!

I think I will wait a week after its release then check back here to find out if its ok or not lol

I think it will be out sometime in June.

It will be an extra special release... It will be released on 10/30 so we can load it.

Garmin does care on some level.

It is known that there are Garmin reps that read the posts here, just to keep in touch with what the Garmin user community feels about their products. This is a well maintained site where users are respected - no bullying and no politics.

Contemplating about when the map updates will come out gives the users another thread to maintain their Windmill, as well as offer some humor and information. Example: I just got my post in for the week.

Also, there are users that would like to have the latest map, if they are going on a trip. Checking this site keeps them posted on when a new one will be available.

Remember if you don't update for I think it is 2 years you lose the lifetime update for that unit.
