So I stayed at My Garmin, looking for this update...
And then a window popped up saying a new map is available! Wierd... It had just 'interrogated' my Garmin..... and said no map was available, and of course, I had just posted there was no map available in another window here.... And then this....
Trying to download and install .40 to my Garmin 550 and I get an error message that says I don't have enough memory to download the lower 48 states. That's what is on there now. Is there ayway I can free up some space?
I went into Window's Explorer, Desktop, and created two Folders: Garmin Voice, and Garmin Text.
I then went to the Garmin drive, and cut all the voices I don't use, and the text files I don't use, and moved them to the new folders on my desktop for future reference.
Back to My Garmin; Loaded the update with no problem. I now have room to replace some of the files I removed, but not all of them.

Hi, I'm new here as I just bought a 765t. I called Garmin to ask about LTM and the guy said the new map version is 2011.4 so I guess it is slowly getting around. This looks like a great site. Thanks. kd
I'm getting a quirky routing glitch near my house. It wants me to turn into a circle road on the way to the only exit to the main highway. Out of the way and makes no sense. I hope this behavior is not repeated in numerous other places.
There is a relatively new intersection (about a year old now) on highway 71 just south of Belton, MO. I checked it out on 2011.40 and it is not there, so I went to the Navteq site and there it was plain as day, correctly displayed and labeled. It has probably been there for a while. I wonder why it is not in the new update yet plainly displayed on the Navteq site.
Any suggestions?
There is about a 6 month delay between the time when Navteq adds a new road or a new intersection and the time when Garmin adds it to their map. Although that's a general fact, there are some exceptions. For major updates, like the extension of an interstate, the delay is about 3 months, but for things like speed limits and junctions views, the delay could be more than 6 months. Garmin prioritizes the updates it receives from Navteq by importance. So, the intersection you're talking about will be added most likely in the next update.

I did the map update.. eventually. When I first tried to do it on my 1490LMT it said I did not have enough space on the unit , so I disconected and removed all the extra languages and text files that I will never use. When I connected back up to My Dashboard it said that I had the latest maps. I tried three or four times but could not get the upload to work despite having no trouble updating the 265WT. So I fired of an e mail to Garmin and got this reply.
Thank you for contacting Garmin International. I will be happy to help you with this.

Just about an hour ago I got e-mail notification of this available map update from Garmin.
I believe this is the first I've gotten the notification, though I believe I had turned on the option at least three update cycles ago. If it becomes consistent from now on, that would be great. And I don't mind if they space out the notifications over a few days (server load mitigation...)
Mapupdater in your Garmin account will display the last map that was downloaded. Click on the download button and the 2011.40 update for your existing map will then be downloaded. Once this map has been downloaded, your Garmin account page will be updated to indicate 2011.04 has been downloaded and activated. Be patient, it takes awhile for the Garmin map files to be downloaded and installed. When finished downloading and installing, you'll then find each map you downloaded will be listed in your Garmin account page, and each contains a notice about the map having been activated and the product key for the map.
