2011.4 is out.
How do you know? My updater shows the latest is 2011.31
it is availible to purchase on garmin website as a download
So if I download it from the Map Updater I will get the 2011.40 even though the software says 2011.31?
Webupdater says my Nuvi is up to date. No new map updates.
Mine shows no update avaiailable, either. It does say I can "download again" 2011.30.
It is probably out but Garmin's servers usually gets swamped when they release a new map. Maybe they are staggering availability of the update to certain groups to minimize server load.
I checked the Garmin site and it also said no map updates were available for my 765.
I know from experience that Garmin staggers the update by time zone normally. Wayne1939 is probably in the pacific time zone.
Maybe but if you go directly to the map page at https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=253&pID=1456 and then click on View Map and then on the map it will show you that, at least, that screen is 2011.40.
The page at https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=253&pID=1456 also states near the bottom that "this is not a map update".
I'm in the west and I'm still seeing no update available using myGarmin.com
Hasn't reached Arizona yet.
Downloading Lifetime Map Update 2011.4 onto my 1490 as I type on my other puter.
not here either
the map update is now showing up for me on mygamin.com and I am in the central time zone
I updated my 3790 LMT. It was a 2 step process. First it updates the unit, disconnect from computer, reconnect, and load the new maps.
Feel your pain.
At least it's a beautiful day to wait for it.
Fired up 'My Garmin'... went to the map updates page, clicked through to where you download lifetime updates...
Do you have the part number?
That can be entered on the first screen, I believe, after choosing a version (e.g. 2011.3) to download.
By entering the 2011.4 product number, 2011.4 will be downloaded instead of what you clicked on.
Since I won't be on the road this week, I'll just be patient another couple of days.
New map showing up on my garmin but not webupdater. Is there usually a lag b/w the 2.
I successfully download 2011.4 and installed it on my 1450LMT starting at 10 a.m. central this am and ending at 10:35 a.m.
Seems to be running fine on both computer and gps. Also, junction view files properly installed new and deleted old
New map showing up on my garmin but not webupdater.
Map updates do NOT show on WebUpdater. WebUpdater is only used to update firmware, voices, system files, etc.
myGarmin/myDashboard will show you when a map update is available, never WebUpdater.
I didn't know that. The POI users were talking about Webupdater and the maps and I thought it did the same thing as mygarmin. Thanks.
It's a big file: 1843.3 MB

I have a cherry 1450 and I'm champing at the bit to install the new maps. HOWEVER, given Garmin's track record of releasing less-than-perfect code, I think I'll wait a few days for any bleeding to show up.
Plunder>>I have a cherry 1450 and going to wait
The only thing you have to fear is fear itself!
My 1450 is my third Garmin.
I've been through the update process many times before.
Half the fun of owning a gps, to me, is keeping it updated.
However I've experienced the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat (updating stuff early).
Hey, the lord hates a coward. The good folks here on POI Factory can help you if things head south.
Might ease your mind to back up your existing gps map, though.
just checked and no update for my 360 or 765t
Since I am recovering at home, decided to check the Garmin Site and the new Map Update is available via my lifetime update for both my 3790T and my 1350T. I am in the middle of updating my 3790T at this time.
Just registered my newest 295W on the 10th of February and did a map update to 2011.30 that day.
When I saw this thread this morning I went to My Garmin website again and it showed another free map update was available for this same unit. It now has been updated this morning to 2011.40 so I guess that they are really living up to the new policy of getting all map updates for free that occur within that first 60 days.
I just installed update 40 and it's still missing a road that is 2 years old. I guess I'll have to wait for update 50 so they can add the missing road.
for those that have updated can anyone tell me if panabaker drive in ancaster ontario shows up yet
You can look for it here:
It shows Panabaker Drive from Braithwaite Ave to Garner Rd W
thats it thanks been waiting on that one for 3-4 years
Both my units have been updated - took just about
1 1/2 hours to update 2 units + the PC.
Thanks for the info!
Got 4 unit need to be update.
If you are waiting for .50, you will be waiting a long time...
The next map will be 2012.10, not 2011.50
Go to www.navteq.com to see if the road that is missing is correct on their site. If not, you can report it and it will eventually be fixed. I've submitted a few locations, took a few months or so but they were updated at some point.
Oh, when is the next map update (2012.10) going to be available?
I have lifetime updates on my nüvi 760 and also on my GPSMAP 78S. Guess I'll have to wait until I get home from work. Maybe I'll stagger them over two days since it's such a huge download.
Does any one know how exactly Garmin names the map's version number.
The last two updates were 2010.30 and 2010.31, and this one is 2011.40. So, I as well as other assume the name one will be either 2011.4x, or 2011.50. Unless there is no more update in 2011, then it would be 2012.50. So, I really don't think there will be 2012.10 ever.
Sigh......... Just checked online. Garmin has screwed me up royally.
I had lifetime updates on my nüvi that was lost/stolen. I wasn't able to transfer them to the replacement 760 so I had to purchase new lifetime maps. I also purchased lifetime maps for my 78S.
Garmin is showing lifetime updates available for BOTH 760 models - even though one was supposed to have been marked by them as lost/stolen so that nobody could use the updates, etc. They are NOT showing the lifetime update for the 78S - which I definitely paid for.
I guess I have to call them and wait through the (probably very long due to the updates) queue to talk to someone and try to get this straightened out.
The next one will probably be 2012.10.
The last 4 have been 2011.10, 2011.20, 2011.30 and 2011.40. The 2011.31 you saw was a special release to fix an issue with the 2011.30 update.
Site must be over loaded I can't even register my 1450 to see if I qualify.
Does anyone know when typically the latest updates are available to order on DVD?
Everybody get your download today. Then, if I'm lucky, the Garmin website won't be so busy tomorrow night when I get home from my trip.
to my PC and Nuvi765T as i write
Got it, thanks
Must have got hung up in immigration
Can someone help me? I installed the new maps and selected the option to install on my Garmin and on my PC. However, I didn't seem to get the new versions of MapInstall and MapSource.
Where did I go wrong???
Thanks in advance
