Nuvi price is dropping fast.

It is the time!

They were sold at a loptop price (350 $450-$550; 360 $550-650).

Since the "generic" GPS (such as MIO C310X) have been sold for under $200. The pressure is building up. Recently, Costco started selling 350 for $350, Amerzon is following. Last time I checked, a 360 is for ~$460. Another $50 drop will make these units more reasonablly priced.

How do you like the 740 compared to your 340?

Especially the volume and voice clarity. I have a 340 and a Nuvi 350 and the voice quality (especially at max volume) is better on the 340. I'm just curious before I buy a Nuvi 7xx series unit.

Free nüvi 200 arrived today...

I started a new thread regarding a FREE nüvi 200. I almost posted it here but this is such a long thread that I though more folks might see it if I made a new thread. The new topic can be found here: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/16082

Well, I got the free nüvi 200 in the mail today. smile

I made a "throw away" mail account in case of tons of spam from the offer but didn't receive even a single piece of spam in that account. All of the confidential or personal info was submitted directly to discovercard.com so the third party site only had the email address I gave them. It's too bad more folks didn't want to get a free GPS.

My wife is gloating "this is mine!". She'll love it.

Thanks

Thanks for the great tip!

I did read the fine print, you have to activate it and make a purchase, which is fine with me to get a free Nuvi.

Did the Nuvi come a few weeks after the card? UPS or Postal Service?

I've passed the offer onto my friends, hope they don't run out of Nuvi's!

I ordered the card online and got it a few days later. I made a purchase with the card on 7-10-08 and received the GPS on 8-20-08. The GPS was delivered by USPS and was shipped directly from amazon.com in retail packaging.

Will Drop Even More

Since I live near a Fry's store, I checked their web page, and the Nuvi 275T, 265T and 265WT are available for pre-order ... and actually all over the web, not just Fry's. So, after October 15, I expect to even more price drops on the older models. Can't wait to see what deals will be available.

nuvi 650

I paid $299 for the 660, and I see the 650 is now $227. Nice savings. I knew it didn't have bluetooth or fm, but I didn't know it also doesn't have the traffic, ac adapter, and carrying case.

If the 650 goes under $200, I'll buy it for a 2nd unit in the household....

Nuvi 880 Price drop if $183.00 in 30 days

When you purchase any electronic device the chances are good that it is outdated already. It is only when the company has drained the most it can out of the geek-consumers that the newer, next generation will be made available. Of course it will be at a premium price when first introduced to the market.

I purchased a Nuvi 880 in the middle of August for $818.00 plus taxes. I searched the net for a long time using www.nextag.com which is my favorite comparison shopping tool.

The site will return good results plus price history on your search item. I made the mistake of looking at nextag to see what the price of the 880 is today. Big mistake, it has dropped to $635.00. A drop of $183.00 in just 30 days and the trend shows a steep decent indicating that the price will soon be even lower.

It’s all about timing. Make your purchase when you feel comfortable about the value vs. price at that time. A couple weeks down the road the chances are pretty good that the item will be on sale ‘somewhere' for less.

But by then the newer, shinier model will be out and has those extra bells and whistles that you were looking for in the first place.

Don't just keep your eye on Garmin, look them all over!

Don't just keep your eye on the Nuvi's this November's Black Friday ads. Your going to be amazed at pricing just for Garmin to stay competitive for the Holiday Season.

Actually watch all the GPS'r manufactures for their newest and greatest Models and features at fantastic pricing. But be prepared to be in line early because each store will only have a very limited supply of each at the very low Black Friday price.

And yes folks there is life after Garmin! be sure to INTERNET compare models and features before buying.
Just look at my signature line, some of you already know my favorite.

So be for you go out and Buy That new Garmin because you think the prices have dropped, Just wait until NOVEMBER 28th 2008 at about 5:00am for the best price yet.

Remember there are other manufactures pounding on Garmins door for the number one slot, Why do you think they have been dropping prices so fast already, because they like you?? The Number two slot is about to be taken over by a different manufacture that was a start up a couple years ago,and they have their eyes on Garmin for 2009.

Yep, exactly. We got a lenovo core 2 duo for $549 when on the website the chip was 1.8 instead of 1.66 ghz, 250 gb instead of 160gb, etc. But it was around $779. That was a whopping 2 mos. ago. Today, that 1.8 ghz machine is $599. I'd rather pay $50 more to get the bigger hard drive and chip.

Anyway, back to gps, I find the nuvi 660 is a workhorse and I don't feel I'm missing anything. I would like to pickup a 650 before they're gone, and I'm hoping maybe in the high $100's.....$179 would be very nice.

This is the link to the Nuvi 780

https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=134&pID=13479

Once you open the link, click on the tab that says "in the box" to see more about the product.
As you will note the 780 has a MSN receiver included in the box and the 760 and 770 both have the FM traffic receiver included in the box. Keep in mind all three of the above units have the capability of using both MSN & FM traffic receivers.

This should help you.

Thanks this helps - just to be sure, the 770 has the ability to receive MSN traffic but does not include the MSN receiver, while the 780 includes the MSN receiver - right? I only ask because the FM traffic doesn't cover my city while MSN does. So if I get the 770 I assume I would have to buy an MSN receiver in order to get the MSN service - how much are those and are they bulky?
