Nuvi price is dropping fast.

It is the time!

They were sold at a loptop price (350 $450-$550; 360 $550-650).

Since the "generic" GPS (such as MIO C310X) have been sold for under $200. The pressure is building up. Recently, Costco started selling 350 for $350, Amerzon is following. Last time I checked, a 360 is for ~$460. Another $50 drop will make these units more reasonablly priced.

nüvi 255 W

I see that the Garmin suggested retail price for the nüvi 255 W is $349.99. Sadly, that is also the price on Amazon. I was hoping to find it at a reputable dealer for less than the Garmin price.

That is the same deal I picked up on. Though I got mine a few days before on 6/10. I haven't see it for less either.

Nuvi 360

I purchased my 360 from Costco on line back in Jan. 2008 for 249.99 plus S&H & tax. Seems a little high after reading some of these posts but I've recently seen it as high as $500 plus on some web sites. At the time and after much investigation it seemed like a very good price.

You didn't pay to much. At the time it was a good price and that is what you have to go by. These type of electronic gizmo's are always dropping in price or some retailer made a fantastic buy and is selling them low. Don't look back. Think about how long you have been enjoying it....At least 6 months longer than if you bought it now..

If it's really only been a month contact Amazon. They will often refund the difference for a price drop shortly after you purchase an item.

Just received my nuvi 750 from QVC for the low, low price of 279.99 - with shipping & tax it came to about 302.00. Its the best price I found.

Check the comparison between the 260W and the 255W. The 255W costs less and offers more:

Nuvi 200 great deal in USA but no Canada maps

Yes Nuvi 200 are very convenient in USA but for all those Canadians, it does not have the Canada Maps. You will need to spend more on an SD card with Canada Maps. It that case you are better off buying a Nuvi 250, which has all the North America Maps.

Nuvi 270 for 199.99

Why not buy a new model?

The 680 is now over two years old. Why not buy a new nuvi with current features and be set for the next couple of years.
Buying an old model doesn't make sense to me. A couple of more dollars and you have the latest.

Must be a new line coming out - Sams prices

Sams is selling the 750 for $299 right now, three guys in the office picked one up. I'm still running the 350 my dad gave me when he upgraded. I just got it back fromm Garmin after a warrenty repair (no sounds) with a different serial number and 2009 maps loaded (the one I sent in had 2008 on it). Nice!

The above post answers a previous post regarding how Garmin will handle discontinued models. They handle it very well! A company that actually puts the "service" back in Customer Service.

Go Garmin!

I recommend them to anyone who asks about GPS.

prices down for good imho

I saw it for $299 around XMAS 2k7 (can't remember if it were before or after), and then it went up into the 330's then 340'ish. When it went back down to 299.99 I bought it. It should go lower, I think it's just as much the whole GPS thing in general as it is how new or old the model is. Who would want to pay $500+ for a unit, no matter how new, today? Remember when the $1000 barrier was broken for the pc? It was a sealed unit made by compaq. That artificial barrier was once $200 for these GPS units.

In a way, when it's my own money I'd rather spend less than more.....sure, the laptop from work still costs $2000 today, but the one bought myself for home at the same time? $549 LOL

Ok, I don't know what the differences are between nuvi 680 and 760, but I bought my nuvi 760 for $390 with free shipping from Costco back in May. And I've seen the same price crop up time and again since then.

In other words, I don't think a nuvi 680 at $439 is a good deal at all. A nuvi 760 at less than $400 is a terrific deal, on the other hand.

Garmin nuvi 270

I just bought my nuvi 2 weeks ago for $199.00 at Costco. I updated it's software and I'm very impressed with it. I live in a very rural region and it works very well. No complaints yet...

Just look at the drop in pricing since the start of this thread, then know in a few months you will feel like you got screwed. However with all electronics you can't be worried about the price you paid today because it was a good price at the time.

I decided I was going to spend about $200 on a GPSr and I needed it by August 1. I think I got as much GPS as I could - in a new unit - within those constraints. (and I only went overbudget by $9! woo hoo!) laugh out loud

This is my first GPS, but I bought one for my Dad for Father's Day a couple years ago (and used it as much as he did). I spent about $300 on a c340 and felt like I had gotten a real bargain. Compare the $200 unit I just bought with the $300 unit from 2 years ago and it doesn't look like a deal anymore. But it WAS.

You have to factor in the time thing or you will always feel like you got screwed.

Refurbished Garmin StreetPilot 2720

and lower

granted it was with a $50 coupon but I purchased a Nuvi 205 for $140 out the door.

Refurbished Garmins

The Nuvi 350 I've had for about 1.5 years now was a factory refurbished unit when I bought it. Except for the packaging which was a plain white box (but with Garmin stickers and seals), and the significant savings over a new one, the contents seemed new to me, with all accessories (new) that a Nuvi 350 came with. There was no way of telling it was a refurb. I wouldn't hesitate buying a refurb, as long it was a official Garmin. If refurbs of a Nuvi 650 or 750 were available at significant savings over new, I'd probably get one. The problem is a new 750 goes for $299 at the local Sam's Club, and refurbs go for more elsewhere. Knowing that, I'd probably not but another GPSr until a refurb 750 went for $200 or less.

Nuvi 770 (transatlantic) Maps

Just got the "Fall into Savings" Costco.com flyer today in the mail. From 8-25-08 to 9-14-08, the Nuvi 770 will be priced at $399.99 plus shipping and handling.

Be Well,

Nuvi 350 for $199

I just bought my Nuvi 350 for $199 at a Portland OR Car Toy tent sale. (Car Toy is a car stereo retailer out of Seattle I believe.) When I got there I discovered that the unit was a white box 'reconditioned' version.

I felt that the advertising was misleading as it didn't mention that it wasn't new. The Garmin rep who was doing the selling said that anytime a unit comes back for any reason, including excess stock return etc, it had to be resold as reconditioned. The unit has been fine and I'm pleased with it.

Car Toys does one tent sale per year per city where they have stores (Oregon, Washington, Colorado and Texas) All the sales people are on commission and they really can put the pressure on.

Still, $199 for a 350 is a great price...

Nuvi 350 at Tigerdirect

A good place to get a "refurbished" Nuvi 350 is TigerDirect, price currently at $169.99, which may return to the "normal" $199. They do online orders, or purchase at their warehouse outlets.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-det...

One thing I like about the 350 is that it comes with a leather case and AC adapter which are no longer included with newer models.

Nuvi 750

I just bought my Nuvi 750 for $299 at Sam's Club. I gave my old C340 to my daughter.
