POI projects

Whilst the files on this site are very useful I have only a limited amount of space for POI on my Navman S70. I travel to the USA most years and would really welcome POI's grouped by location (e.g. State) as well as by type. That way I could load my SatNav with just the files I need for a trip rather than trying to load 1000's of POI for the whole of USA.

Several months ago I decided to adopt (and save) a new dog from an animal shelter. I have been visiting several shelters in and around Fort Worth, but I'm learning there are far more than I ever imagined. I thought what a great help it would be if my GPS could help save a pet and give him or her a new home.

I downloaded the Starbucks file. It had only one Starbucks entry from my city. However, when I used my Garmin to look up "Starbucks", the GPS found the other 4 Starbucks. Where did it get them, since they weren't in the Starbucks POI download file?

I compiled a list of all of the Shari's Restaurants. I started with the online lists of restaurants from sharis.com, asking for a state at a time.

Used Google on the street address to fill in the city, state, and zip code. Also used it to replace the incorrect 555 phone numbers that existed in the sharis.com website.

Does anyone have a POI that lists all the waterfalls in NZ?

I have a suggestion for a new POI file - i searched and didn't see anything on this.

There is a book out called waterfalls of ontario and I just wanted to see if anyone has done it, thought of doing it or wants to help me do it.

I just picked up the book and its a whole tourguide of all 80 waterfalls in ontario.

I would LOVE to have ALL the Wifi Hot Spots for At&T in Florida I would even pay for it (well a few bucks LOL)

What happened to the weigh stations POI. I noticed almost all the I-5 sites are missing and some others also. Is a new file being created.

Whenever I search for "Coffee" only, POI I get is Starbucks! It'd be fun to explore unknown coffee shops.

Yesterday I added a new POI File, using data from a website I run, http://ridetoeat.com. You can find the POI file at http://www.poi-factory.com/node/25173.

Though there will of course be significant overlap, it is different from other restaurant lists in that it is not about just good restaurants, nor about where to eat when traveling.

Anyone have any suggestions for the best red light POI sources for PA, NJ, NY?

Hello. Was browsing around the site and found an addition to the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf POI file that's not included in the one listed on here. Here's the specs:

I recently used 4 POI files on a trip to Kentucky and was distressed to find that several of the locations were unusable and about half were marginally useful.

By the third day, we just entered the address and ignored the POI files I had downloaded.

Does anyone have the coordinates of the Fowler Ridge Wind Farm in Indiana? Can the turbines be seen in Google Earth satellite view? Or, were the images taken before the turbines were built?

Edit: I should have searched the POI files first! It's in there (Benton County, IN)

Hi, everyone! After signing on to this site the otehr day, and seeing the great POI files everyone has done here (and they are far more accurate and complete than what is in my GPS), I wanted to join in. At my wife's suggestion, I looked for a POI file for a regional chain of department stores in the Mid-Atlantic, called Boscov's, and noticed there wasn't one.

I have downloaded a gpx file that ended up in my Favorite. How do I delete this file? I have been deleting each item one at a time. There has to be a faster way. Any suggestion?

I have downloaded POI file for TGIF which is formated as a GPX file. It went into my Favorite file. How do I download so that it will go into my Custom POI file. Do I change the GPX into .csv file. Need help.

My wife being a quilter and has made me take trips with her to quilt shows around the USA so here I go.
This Sept. 26th and 27th there will be a SAC CO. QUILT A Fair with quilt show and other things but the main thing is 56 barn Quilts throughout the county.
