Garmin talk

My 2555 was working perfectly fine all day. I unplugged it and then had a need to use it about 10 minutes later and it was totally dead. Would not start, screen blank. The unit was plugged into the truck lighter socket.

I used the proper power supply and also plugged it in with the USB port on my computer and have no response.

I will make this short. I plan a route from Tuscaloosa,Ala to Jackson, Ga. When I was pass thru, Newnan,Ga it want to route me to I-85 North to I 285 across to I-75 South. I didn't know why. I reverse the route and the GPS wanted to route me to I-75 north to I-285 and than to I-85 south. I rechecked every thing, I saw where I had set it for the fastest route.

My heated up 3790 packed it in. I replaced it with a 3580.
My 2598 is similar in behavior. In the "where to" screen i can Add Shortcuts. I added my custom pois there. Great idea, don't have to use the Categories icon, which is a bit of a pain. The 3580 has that function also BUT, can't seem to add my custom pois.
I can add anything else but not that. Any idea guys? Thanks

I bought a Garmin Nuvi 500 a number of years ago. It has traditionally been used inside our minivan. I am now giving some thought to getting a RAM mount for one of my ATVs and using it when riding in the state forests. For those here that have done that, is dust the biggest concern?

a year or two ago, I posted a thread about wanting to increase size of icons for 2689 sized screen...
Someone posted info about a way to do this, which I of course committed to memory, which is now lost.... and I find myself wanting to make some other icons larger.....

If anyone remembers this... could you refresh my memory?

I have a couple of older nüvi 760 models.

The first on no longer "talks" through the onboard speaker. I rarely use the onboard speaker as I prefer to route it through the car stereo via the audio out jack but I DO sometimes need the onboard speaker. This unit has full North America and Hawaii maps.

I have an old Garmin nüvi 760 that I love. It has an audio out jack and can connect to the car stereo. Are there ANY newer models with this feature? I can't hear the dang things worth a darn with the internal speaker.

Just updated my Garmin 265W to new Map Update using Garmin Express on my Macbook pro. When it was finished it said it was a successful update now my screen is frozen. Cain't do a hard reset because you need to use the screen to do it. Anyone with suggestions?

I have an old Garmin Nuvi 200 and when I plug it into the built-in USB port in my truck, or a non-Garmin charger in the cigarette lighter, it gives me a screen indicating that it thinks its plugged into a computer and is awaiting a download. That's all it will do. If I plug in the factory charger it works fine but any other mini-USB cable seems to make it think its plugged into a computer.

Everytime i hit a bump yesterday and today, my gps tilts downward. I think that the socket that holds thr ball in is loose. Anyone got any ideas on how to get it back to the proper tightness?

I have found a way to use a usb port to charge nuvi 40 only, without using data. before connecting to port turn on and at main menu, hold down battery charge icon. this will go into a diagnostic "menu".
now plug in to pc and press exit on GPS. wait a few seconds and you are in control. you can now set where you want to go or just let it charge
etc.

It appears that Toyota owners may update their in-dash Nav once for free. I have never heard of this. Does anyone know if the 2015 Toyota Avalon XLE uses Garmin maps and is eligible for updating via this link?

Garmin began rolling out Garmin Express v4.1.27.0 for the PC today. If you would like to upgrade to the latest version, Check for Updates to Express on the Settings page within the Express application. This version includes the following changes:

• Fixed an issue where some SD cards were incorrectly being reported as incompatible.

I was wywing up the Garmin DriveSmart 70LMT. Has anybody here tried one yet? I don't think that they have been available all that long.

Just bought a refurbished 2360 and I was trying to get to the screen that shows the satellites that it is connected to. I know with my 1300 you just hold the left corner of the screen and it shows you but the 2360 is not doing that. Is that not an option on the 2360?

The other half just got a refurb 2699 to replace her 780. I installed the latest firmware and maps then added her huge list of POIs including the red light ones and the matching voice file.

For some reason she gets the BOING warning but not the voice warning.

Removed all the POIs and reinstalled same result.

Hello, i have a problem with an unit, its an 205W, the problem is that when you are navigating through the interface, the "graphics" or "buttons" start disappearing, glitching ( they start breaking in half, and some kind of " noise" starts appearing on the screen).

Its not the screen, this is an interface issue, or bug. How can i fix it? And i dont have a backup. Thanks in advance.

I am learning to make technical routes using basecamp and Harley Rider for motorcycling. I want to build solid routes that will not change during transfer to devices and will work as expected so that I can enjoy the passing scenery rather than be distracted by the GPS recalculating my route unexpectedly.
