Garmin talk

Can anyone tell me if/how the "Red Light Enforcement" POI's work on my Garmin NUVI 250W?
I am concerned that because it does not play MP3 files this would limit compatibility.

Garmin Nüvi 760 (Where Am I)

The Where Am I icon gives you locations in:
"Degrees, Minutes and Seconds".

Is it possible to change this display to show:
"Decimal Degrees".

So this is probably a dumb question (I have lots) but where do you find out what version map (2007 or 2008) is installed? I have seen lots of posts regarding updates from Garmin from 2007 to 2008. I purchased mine in December 2007 so I'm assuming I have 2008 maps but I can't see anywhere on the unit, box it came in, etc. that tells me for sure.

Just a comment, but i wish Garmin would move Work out of Favorites and give it its own button like the home feature. It is a daily trip and seems to make sense to me. Plus the fact, that Work is not one of my favorites, i guess in that case, maybe the inlaws should get their own button to....

I recently learned a nice way of loading way points into my Garmin from this site by just tapping on the car icon when at a particular place to save that location. Was just driving some back roads in North Carolina got lost (was not using the Garmin) but I found a great fishing place. I immediately pulled out the Garmin let it log up to the satellite and saved the place.

I accidentally left my Nuvi 360 out in the car in 32 Degree temperature about 4 hours. I took it in and try to turn it on and it won't come on. I waited 5 minutes and it comes on then went off after display loading. After many tries I plug in AC adapter and it come on and the battery is low. Is the cold temperature discharged my battery?

Maybe it's old age, or maybe just a mental block, but still looking to understand the theory.

When you turn your unit on, there is a "where to" option. You press "where to" and it takes you to a second page with various other options i.e "address", "food", "extra", "favorites", etc.

Garmin stock has gone from a high of approximately $123 down to approximately $68 recently. Why??

I am new to GPS. I have successfully downloaded custom POI's to my nuvi 260 thanks to this site!

I understand that in a gpx file, one can set proximity setting on individual pois. I have searched to try to find an example of this being done and haven't found it.

Anyone have a bit of code or a file they could refer me to to show how to set proximity setting in a gpx file? I would like to see a file so that I can grasp the concept...

Hey everyone, is there anywhere else i may get vehicles for my gps other than the official garmin site????

Is there a basic naming convention to the Nuvi series of GPS units. At first I thought there was, but now I'm not sure.

For example Nuvi 3xx and 6xx appear to be the same except for screen size. If you go from a 350 to a 360 you add Bluetooth same as a 650 to a 660...

After downloading the software update for the traffic receiver, I noticed in the Garmin directory the RemoteSW directory. The only mention of it that I found here was in a discussion re: Bluetooth. There are two files in the directory, 006B055301.GCD (12/21/2007) and 006B063000.GCD (no date). Can anyone tell me what these are for.

Changes made from version 2.30 to 2.50:

* Added support for Madmaps.
* Added support for enhanced circular routes. The unit will detect when routes are circular and adjust the start and stop point to the point where you actually enter the route. (Existing routes will be cleared.)
* Added support for TTN Canada Traffic provider.

Does any one know if there is a limit number of folders that will show up under custom pois for c340?

Does anyone know if I can use my Garmin on a Mexican cruise without buying maps? Will I still see the land/ocean and just no roads or will it not be useable at all?

Does anyone know how to access the battery status on the 660?

We are new to this forum and want to know what POI we should download to our GPS. We have the maps that we downloaded initially but seem to be missing some places, like golf courses, some camp grounds, etc. Thought POI would help and it would just be one thing to download but it seems to be several, specific downloads that we need. I am confused about what to put into the GPS.

Well I finally took my c530 that I got for X-mas 2007 and put it to a real test on my first GPS road trip. Before this trip I was just driving around and testing it to see what it was capable of. Anyway I am happy to report that it did exactly what it was supposed to do and more.
