Garmin talk

I just last night loaded red light cameras to my 680, and this morning I discovered it shows small Grey dot, but not an icon, and no warning audible massage. I loaded all to gpx file, and rename them the same. Please advise how to fix it.

I am new to the POI Factory and am looking for some knowledge. Is there any way to add a street to the database or do you just have to wait for the update to include it? My street has existed for over five years and it was not on the Garmin update for 2009.

I have a nuvi 760 with 3.0 and 2009 maps. It's been working fine, both as a GPS unit and MP3 player with SD card, for about 1 month. That is, until 2 days ago when I started getting this message everytime I power it up: "New Extras data found on card. Would you like to install this data so that it will be available if the card is removed?"

I believe I've come across a bug when searching "Search Near" "My Current Route".

Can anyone else confirm the same behavior?
(by the way, I have software version 3.00)

To reproduce the problem you would first enter a destination, and let nuvi calculate the route, then do "Where To?", "Near...", "Select: My Current Route", OK, and select POIs that you would have more than 4 along your route.

After displaying the first page (four entries), and scrolling down to see the next page, the distance and orientation for the next page gets updated, but the names of POIs remain fixed with those from the first page.

My Nuvi 360 came preloaded with a 2008 NT map, and I don't want to mess around or delete anything in it. Now I can update to the free NT 2009 map but in the process it'll overwrite the 2008 map and also will update the unit's firmware to the lastest one which I don't want.

I recently bought a Garmin 260W. The specs state that it has a limit of 500 Waypoints/favorites/locations. The 260W can only have 1 waypoint on an active route. It can't store route waypoints. And I've already loaded 2000 custom POIs onto it. It will display all of them as they move into proximity of the GPS. Of course, only 52 of the nearest show up on the Go To Extras file.

So what's the 500 location limit apply to? I've asked the experts at Garmin and their reply was nonsense: "Yes you are right." they told me.

I just bought a nuvi 260W and I'm very ignorant of the lingo. I need help. Let's start with what's a POI Loader?

After much fighting with the POI loader on my mac (it never did work), I used my PC instead and was able to load both *.gpx and *.csv files onto my GPS. Now what? I don't see them anywhere even if I zoom in where they are supposed to be. Please help me...what am I doing wrong? If one of you kind souls can please help me out I'd be forever grateful. cevallos at gmail dot com

To free up more space for IMPORTANT stuff (like POI's) can I go into the language folder of my Nuvi 760 and delete the languages I'll never use?

i have garmin nuvi 750, downloaded poi files and installed to sd card and set proximity alerts, works fine. but what is not working, are the custom voice alerts that are downloaded along with the csv. files. i have renamed the mp3 files to match the exact same name as the csv. file using .mp3 instead of .csv when i pass location the alert goes off but not with custom voice file.

Hopefully this is where I can get some help??

Were new to GPS and bought a Garmin 760 so far I have been able to use some of the POI's on this site and even made a short one for my area(real basic).

Over the last couple of days, I have read numerous topics about whether you get an update {Newest Maps} or not from Garmin. Here is my story. I bought my Nuvi 250W from TigerDirect about a week ago.

I am about to replace my nuvi 370 that my wife lost. I have a couple of questions that are hard to answer by looking at a local store. Would appreciate answers or advice on:

1. I assume that the stuff my wife did not lose for the 370 (the beanbag mount, fm traffic receiver and such) would work on any nuvi. Is that correct?

Searched the forum and didn't find anything. POI Loader keeps crashing on my Mac, and my PC. Is it possible to have to many POI's? I have a lot, probably more than I need!! But it would be nice to have them all on there. Basically, POI Loader starts, goes for about 10 minutes, then crashes.

Any ideas?

Can anyone successfully convert the medic.srf file into a workable .png file?

I've tried using the 'http://www.techmods.net/nuvi/' website but I don't seen to get a valid png file out of that site.

Morning everyone. Registered my new 760 last night. Should the Garmin "My Maps" page spell out that I am eligible for the 09 update; do I wait for an email; etc?

I purchased Garmin 760 recently. Every now & then it is displaying a messege " Bluetooth Software Update 0%". After that it seems like hanged. I tried to update the software but ........... Can any body help me regarding this? After this messeg i have to unplugged the unit and turn it off and on only then it works. Plz help me. Thanx

If you own own multiple GPS units which do you use on a regular basis? Is one better for local trips and another better for your long trips?

I downloaded the cracker barrel poi's but after I sync with my nuvi 260w I still can't find it on my gps.
