I've got a Nuvi 880 which I have been very happy with. It just started a new trick. When I turned it on last month, it began speaking in Afrikaans rather than the usual English. I pulled over and looked and English wasn't available. Fortunately was able to select French which I understand well enough to get to my destination.

Does anyone know what the cost of a lifetime map for the 3790T is costing.

Using my Garmin 3760, WebUpdater offered the following update -

I found an interesting tid bit on my 1490T. I wanted to see motels past a certain city on my current route. I had programmed the city I planned to stop at and requested hotels near on my current route. I only got a few hotel/motel listings. On a thought I checked how far the city I wanted to stop near was from my current location.

My wife loves the Jack voice and so thanks to the TTS voice editor program, I changed "recalculating" to "You're not listening to me Kathy! I thought it was only men who didn't stop for directions. Let's go this way"

I thought there was a thread somewhere on this site regarding how to add maps to your Garmin, but cannot find it. I have downloaded a map file (.img) for use in Batam, Indonesia, where I am going to visit this coming June. The author's instructions were to copy the file to the garmin directory, but this doesn't cause the map to be displayed in my unit.

i was told by Garmin that once you do an update in firmware you cannot revert back to previous version. THAT IS NOT A TRUE STATEMENT
I did a reverse firm ware from 4.90 TO 4.80 on my NUVI 760
because of continuous locking up problems { approx 10 in 30 minutes}

Ok well it was refurbished, but still comes with the 1-yr. warranty! Such a deal I couldn't pass it up. My Nuvi 760 is still working great, but 4 years old now. How the prices have dropped! I believe I paid almost $400 for the 760....

I have a Garmin 760T that works perfectly but I just decided to upgrade (got a little break from Unca Dam... I mean Sam).

I did read the FAQ's, so I'm sorry if this has already been asked.

In short, I can't play MP3's.
The volume is up.

I have listened to pre-loaded files, but can't hear them anymore either. I hit the "Play" triangle, and the button turns into the 2 bar "Stop" button which would indicate the file is playing...but it isn't.

Iv'e added a few new poi's to my list of poi's which includes symbols for the display and the mp3 anouncements. I made sure all the files are the exact spelling except the file extensions, like I was told in a previous post. Now none of them seem to work or the alerts don't work.

I just opened mapsource, opened current.gpx from my 255W, saved it to my hard drive. Then, while still in Mapsource, switched to a different 255W and saved as current.gpx. I had already deleted the existing file on the 2nd gps.

Now it seems I have 2 of everything. How can I clear out the old file properly?

The documentation says if you hit the power button for two seconds it will sleep and the battery will last about a week. Is the same true that letting the screen timeout will do the same thing?

We took a trip the last three weeks and we tried looking for food along the road. Nearly every place to eat that we tried to locate on my C340 (which is probably 7 years old but regularly updated) was closed or gone.

I have aGARMIN NUVI 3760T and would like to charge it at home. I found wall chargers at Amazon, but some of them say not compatible with my unit. Can I simply just use a micro USB charger from one of my cell phones? I think it says 5.1 MV (or whatever).Kind of hard to read though.

Just note that some 855 owners--me, for instance--have an 855 that suffers from repeated near-random reboots when in use. Still, for $85...

Woot's shipping is not especially speedy but if you're open to waiting a bit, I've never had a problem with Woot.

I just attempted Ghayman's "Oh give me a home" easy poi exercise. I failed. It's too funny actually. The alert does appear when I am almost to my house, but instead of playing "home on the range" I hear "zoo ahead". Now, I'm not saying that our house isn't a zoo, but I want to figure out what I did wrong.

It looks like everything is named correctly.

I just bought a GARMIN NUVI 3760T and last Garmin got me. I updated the maps 4 day's before new ones came out. Anyone know what is the latest map is, and is their another one coming out any time soon? I have 30 days to get my free map!
