Garmin talk

I have a 3790LMT, where can I find in Eco-Route the total mileage that was driven with out me doing all the adding. It gives total amout of gase use and the total amount spent for gas, but no total amount of miles driven.

Just return from a three weeks vacation in Tn, Va, Ga. The leave wasn't quite ready, but did enjoy what we saw. Took my 855 and my 3790. Both work great. I used the 9790 for my routes and my wife used the 855 to find restaurant and fast food places. The eta time was different by a couple of minutes,but,no problem. First time that my wife ever used the gps. She learned real quick.

My Nuvi 2450 has a very bad glare. What do you use for a glare shield and does it work well?

Is it feasible for me to convert gdb file for Nuvi 205?

I was hoping to ride a planned dual-sport motorcycle route tomorrow. This is a combination of public roads, with un-maintained road sections and snowmobile trails.

The club posted the route as a .gdb file. My GPS doesn't support routes, so I need to convert to coordinates to enter as individual destinations, or a POI file.

I just bought a Garmin Nuvi 1490 and its doesn't have MP3
capability. How do I go about get voice alerts using WAV files for the Garmin Nuvi 1490.
Can anyone please show me steps by steps to get voices alert.

Looks like a good update...note the first change.

Changes made from version 4.30 to 4.50:

Added the ability to import .GPX route files for use in Trip Planner.
Improved the data transfer speed from a PC to the device SD card over a USB cable.
Fixed a WebUpdater error that caused incomplete software updates to be reported as complete.

I am wondering why Garmin has not incorporated a combine weather and traffic report in all the GPS units with traffic that they still support. Both features are highly related to travel and if they want to make the units add more value to users they should make that addition. That's just my thought.

Didn't find any mention when I searched this site, but as I began to back up the downloaded files from this update, I noticed there were 2 .cab and 2 .msi files missing, when compared to earlier updates. The difference is also reflected in each update's SetupLog.txt file (Check the last few entries that begin "Starting download of ...").

I found a free online site to convert mp3 files to wav files. Try it you'll like it.

I, stupidly, did the 5.40 update which caused me to lose my custom POI icons and now the preloaded poi are showing up (gas stations and such) and I'd like to rid myself of them. I cannot find any way to do so on the machine. I searched for help on this but saw no posts...any thoughts?

I have a nuvi 2340

On a previous nuvi235 i set up a poi file with the company logo as a BMP file which displayed when selected poi was shown

on the 2340 i can only display it as a black dot. All other POIs from PocketGPS display logos correctly.

So far to try and correct this i have:
changed bmp file to same size as those which work.
deleted file on GPS and reloaded file.

How do I move the addresses I have saved from one garmin (265tw) to another (nuvi 1490?

Seeing posts about recovering a garmin after its corrupted made me think....

How would one backup a garmin, when it's perfectly fine, so as to have a backup of it, in case it gets scrambled later????

Seeing that everything is fine here now.... what procedure should I use to back up the Nuvi 660, and if it gets corrupted in the future, what procedure would I use to restore it?

In setting a route, I want to travel through an intersection of let say a state highway 395 and I-5. How do I enter such intersection? What would be the exact spelling?

The new unit says it has Garmin Guidance 3.0. Traffic from the HD Radio Network, Voice-activated navigation,etc.

I wonder if I will I see a performance update from a 765t with LMT?

It has shipped according to Amazon, so maybe someone has been using one? Recommendations appreciated.
