DriveSmart 50, DriveSmart 60, nuvi 2595, nuvi 3760,

I got this one for my Birthday

I got to say when you get into key cities its really cool the building pop up in 3 d, with key building showing up. And if your so inclined to look up disney world on it Cinderella's Castle shows up when you zoom into the Magic kindom. The buildings in downtown Orlando show up, New york was cool, San Francisco was cool also.

I really like the voice command although he seems to be hard of hearing at times. When your talking in the car all of a sudden it will say VOICE COMMAND during a normal conversation I think its funny.

I really like the detail in the 3790 LMT.

3790LMT $174.98 at Amazon

Rather than start a new thread, I will just add to this old one. Even tho the 3790 is a discontinued unit, it seems like a good price. If it drops much more, I may have to pick one up.

Edit: At 7:30 pm, I see the price at Amazon has gone back up to $267.79. I guess I should have jumped on it this afternoon.

Where did you get the idea

Where did you get the idea that it is discontinued?

It isn't. . . . yet.

Your right

Your right it isn't discontinued. It's Garmin's very wierd naming system that is causing the confusion.

The 3790 is in a category called Previous ( https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=402 ) which includes the 37xx, 23xx, 24xx, and 1xxx models, all of which may not be manufactured any more (don't know for sure) but have not been placed on Garmin's discontinued list ( https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=164 ).

All the very newest Nuvi models are on Garmin's "current" list ( https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=134 ).

You are correct.

The 3790LMT is listed with the "previous models" on Garmin's site, but not yet in the "discontinued" list. I keep forgetting that Garmin added that "previous models" designation. I suspect the 1xxx models will move over to the discontinued list before the 37xx models do.

Yes

Yes, I agree the 1xxx will be next to move over. I was told that this would happen by the end of 2011 but the inventory must still be large enough to keep them from formally being moved to discontinued status.
