Garmin 3490 not compatible with USB 3.0

Does anyone experience the Nuvi 3490 & 3790 not connect with USB 3.0 on PC?

I'm using Sony Vaio laptop with NEC USB 3.0 chipset. It does charging but not syncing.

I also have the older model Nuvi 765T which is working well with USB 3.0.

Garmin 3490 Not Compatible with Sony Vaio USB 3.0

I have the same problem
1) Sony Vaio FX132/B with USB 3.0 and Blu-ray reader.
2) Gamin 3940

Garmin works on USB 2, but not with USB 3. Have had some other problems with Sony Vaio USB 3 ports.

What cable?

Out of curiosity, are you using a USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 cable?

NP here...

Steven, I have a new Sony F-Series laptop, the VPCF236FM. I connect my 3490LTM via the USB 3.0 ports, and it works perfectly.

The 3490 goes into 'connect' mode when I connect a run-of-the-mill USB to USB Micro Cable.

Then it is seen quickly by myDashboard, POI Loader and Web Updater also.

I can update, load POI's, vehicles, voices - all from the 'blue' USB 3.0 ports.

Just so you know...

I'm using USB 2.0 cable

I'm using USB 2.0 cable since the Nuvi unit have only 2.0 USB micro port.

Not work for me

I have the same laptop as you but I tried both connect direct to USB 3.0 port or thought USB 3.0 hub and still not working. It only does charging but not seen by computer. The older Nuvi 765 does working fine.

cable?

USB 3.0 port should be backward compatible with 2.0 devices. Did you try other cable, preferably original Garmin that come with device? If it will work with different cable then cable will have culprit. There were some people here, who had problems with data transfer thru non-original cables and Nuvi.

Other thing you should check is if Nuvi will work if you connect it with said cable to different port and to different computer. If it will work on different port or computer it will mean that there is problem with port or device.
