Garmin talk

So, my Garmin Nuvi 1690 is on borrowed time. It's worked OK but the nulink service is going off the air in a few months. The google local is already gone, but the traffic I consider essential here in Southern California.

I live in Ontario Canada and want to replace my 2595 with the newer 6" version, 2689
Would anyone have any experience with this model or know who sells this model in Ontario.
My local store, Future Shop (owned by Best Buy) does nor carry it.

Have Nuvi 1450, No T on the end. I have receivers GDB 55 and GTM 25, MSN direct is no longer and I haven't been able to answer my question of,
Will the replacement rcvr recommended by Garmin work with my GPS? Would the MSN icon change" or will it simply be plug and play compatible?

Have Nuvi 1450, no T on the end. I have receivers GTM 25 and GDB 55, Neither are working due to the shutdown of MSN Direct. My Nuvi has the MSN icon and codes for activation all in place,

tried Waze on android and it gave my Garmin a run for the money. Drawback is, it does eat up your data limits.
Just asking for comments, Garmin still rules here.

Hi Guys, I have not worked on POI files for many years. Now I can not figure out how to create one. I tried Google Earth and created kml files but when I bring kml file in POI Editor, it is not working. Am I missing a step? How can I import KML files properly in POI Editor or any other editor? I will appreciate your help.. I know there should be tons of help here but could not find the right one.

Kia wants $149 plus $40 for an SD card! Ugh! Has anyone updated a factory GPS? It's nearly impossible for me to spend $40 on a $3.00 SD card.

I have used the Live Traffic and find it better than the built-in traffic. Gives more up to date traffic conditions and has been very accurate in my travels between PA and Maine.

Hi there - I updated to the latest firmware and I noticed that when I went to check my maps the unit only shows the ones for North America. However I also have custom maps from OSM in an SD card with different names and the extension IMG - but they are not showing now. Is there anything that I can do to revert this behavior? Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

I noticed this weekend that I had no traffic alert functions. I was stuck in a mile long standstill traffic jam on Rte. 17 in NJ. and yet the Garmin said no traffic problems. So I open my Waze app. on my phone and it showed every traffic jam I was dealing with. So I when I got home home I upgraded the maps, cause the device alerted me to do it.

recently used garmin express to upgrade software to version 4.50.. now my traffic will not even show.
how can I downgrade to previous software version?

I noticed today that Garmin Express offered an update to the Samantha voice on my 3597. Since I don't trust Express, I checked on WebUpdater, and it offered updates to several of the TTS3 voices on my 3597. They all went from V2.0 to V2.1, and the change log showed the same change on each of them ... "Added parking phrases" or something like that. So I applied the updates using WebUpdater.

Have had a 1450LMT since 2011. Looking to upgrade but not sure which model. Features important to me (other than lifetime maps):

- HD traffic (when I use Google maps traffic it puts the traffic info from the 1450LMT to shame). I know HD traffic is updated much more frequently, and I assume this would bring it up to par with Google traffic.

Does anyone else have about 5GB of two IMG files on their Garmin?

I have a 1450 that worked fine until an update. It actually worked for awhile past that so it may be unrelated but it started acting wonky with random reboots right after the update.

Now, it comes up showing GARMIN screen and goes no further. Computer doesn't see it, won't get to master reset screen and basically it is just a GARMIN 5" billboard.

Threw all sorts of wierd routes at it.. In SF, In Marin County, Greater Oakland area...
