Time for another Garmin map update watch thread. 
Its been four months since Map City Navigator North America 2023.10 (http://www.poi-factory.com/node/52087) was released. Hopefully we'll see an update soon.

So it's another Monday bump, as fingers are kept crossed that we'll see a map update before the holiday season in the states commences.

Recently had a trip to Calgary.. a world of difference in the map compared to Edmonton. Animated exits, a lot more detail in the actual map.
Be nice if the next map updated the Edmonton area to match what is available in Calgary.

Name of the next map update version?
With Garmin's policy of naming map updates one year ahead of the actual year, if they don't get on the stick they might break tradition and put out the 2023.30 update in year 2023. On the other hand, Garmin may skip the 2023.30 update in 2022 and release it in 2023 instead. If the update is delayed until next year, will Garmin name the next map update 2023.30 or 2024.10? Inquiring minds want to know as the year is growing short and the holiday season is upon us.

I wouldn't be suprised if they cut back to 2 map updates a year, given that the automotive mobile GPS is becomming less and less needed by the general public.
I never get lost, but I do explore new territory every now and then.

One of the states near me just changed their exit numbers on their highway system, and I'd love my map to reflect the change.

lots of one way roads appearing and within Garmin unit, we cannot have any options to modify or to let the device to think 2 way into 1 way road.

With only four more days
With only four more days left in 2022, methinks the Garmin 2023.30 map update will not happen in 2022. If by chance a new map shows up in the next four days, you will be able to knock me over with a feather.
Longest gap between map updates
Currently, per this thread, the longest Garmin has gone between map NA updates was 168 days. We are at approximately 168 days (including today) since the last map update. Meaning the current gap will likely be the longest to date (if no NA map drop today/tomorrow). And makes only two updates for 2022 versus three map updates for 2017 up through 2021 if no NA map is dropped in the next four days. It seems Garmin likes to drop map updates on Wednesday or Thursday per past releases.

A 2689LMT in both our cars that we love... and a Nuvi 660 with Lifetime Maps that we have had literally forever.... And a 2011 Ford Escape with Nav System that is totally ignored!

See my post up thread from last week that indicated the current gap between map updates is going to be the longest to date. Previous gap was 168 days, we're beyond that now. Further last time with only two map updates in a year was 2016.

Let's hope that "when" it happens, the wait will have been worth it. Hope the delay is caused by them fixing all that is wrong with the previous updates.

How do they even get the
How do they even get the information on what has changed? Does the government publish changes to the roads, exits, etc? Then garmin somehow puts it all together?
Curious if anyone knows how they actually do it. Seems like magic to me.
