Geez, what took someone so long to start the watch? grin

OK, but....

This year I don't even care, not going anywhere.
And with gas around $5/gal I'm not really putting any miles on the car.

I doubt I'll even use it for a local route.

But it will stay mounted on the vent and active everytime I go out.
Too many other things going on until late Fall, early Winter.

I thought about it

Phil[/quote]

I thought about it but I declined. My guess is that new maps should be out quite soon but with all the Garmin employees working from home (goofing off razz ), it may take longer than expected.

Already updated my maps back

Already updated my maps back in april or may. Even got a small roadtrip in. With fuel prices the way they are, unlikely to be going anywhere distance any time soon.

There's no recession..... just wait.

For various reasons

I have barely put on 3,000 miles (5,000km) in the last 2 years and all of that did not require GPS !

Map Update

I keep getting map updates but I never see anything new

Maybe I've gotten sloppy in

Maybe I've gotten sloppy in mapsource, but the last road trip had some weird navigation. Fortunately I look further up the route to see where I'm supposed to go so didn't get misguided.

Did miss an exit on I465 in indianapolis but that was due to my own doing.

Waiting.

With new subdivisions popping up like mushrooms, I look forward to every update.

Bring It On

The sooner the better.

retirement

it seems like there building a lot of retirement living centers any more. must be we are all getting older and want to be with people more our age but the rent is kinda spendy i haven't seen any below $3000 a month for a single bed room and if you want a garage its extra and a few other things are to, so you had better of had a good retirement plan with medical to move in SS isn't going to cover it !

Behind...

Not sure but I may be 2 updates behind. Going on a road trip starting in early July so I guess I really ought to update not only the maps but the Red Light Cameras and Rest Areas as well.

Many Places Out of Business

It is not the changing of roads, but the updates are needed because many businesses have shut down with all of the covid insanity. Who wants to drive to a business to find out they are closed?

That's

Something that has happened before. I figured it was time to look for a motel off the Blue Ridge Pkwy.Followed the directions to a tee. When Gertie said you've arrived at the location there was nada there and by the looks of it the motel must have blown up, nothing left!!!

Software update

Was looking for new maps as I was thinking it was getting close to time but all I got was a one minute software update.

Eagerly

Awaiting the new map update

Not traveling much these days

Not traveling much these days, except locally. Hope they fix the speed limit error at I-64 255mm when it drops from 65 to 60. Says 55 instead of 60, but goes back up to 60 after a mile or 2.

Map Update.

It will be interesting to see if this is the update that takes the full CN NA map over 4 GB. It is getting closer to 4 GB with each update. I assume when it happens, Garmin will start delivering the NA map in two files like it has been doing with CN EU for several years. And that will drive another nail in the coffin for those older Garmin devices that have the 2 GB file size limits, limited internal storage and map file naming restrictions.

5 mph would not even be margin of error around here (chicago expressways). Posted signs say 55, avg is 65-70 with plenty going 80 mph.

Update

new road trip

Just got back from a 2700 mile road trip. Going to be heading out for 2000 mile trip in a few weeks. Getting fresh maps would be very welcome.

no rush

haven't traveled for more than two years, and with gas prices...

Could be any day now

But I don’t use Samantha to find out where hotels are. I always use the hotels website and they are always up to date. I use Choice Hotels, Best Western, La Quinta, and, in a pinch, Motel 6. I usually find one of those close to my present location.

You know you can go to HERE Map Creator and adjust the speed limits and other data. If they agree with your changes, it will eventually show up in the Garmin maps.

Hoping for more attention to speed limits

I just finished a 4227 mile ride and found speed limit errors to be prevalent from NC to SD to MN to WI back to NC. They are understandable on a new improved stretch of road but most had no obvious explanation for the discrepancy. School zones were the worst. I turned speeding alerts off on my Garmin and followed the posted speed limit (sort of).

Do they leave the light on for you?

At the times you stay at Motel 6, do Tom Bodett and Motel 6 leave the light on for you? Inquiring minds want to know.

I predict it will be soon

I predict it will be soon when it is released

This Week?

Since the update didn't come last week.

Next week

Next week for sure because it ain't coming this week and didn't last week, so next week it is.

updates.

So true. I would like to see better navigation with the map updates. There is a glitch in the map that when you get on the Southern State Parkways in Wantagh, NY from the Meadowbrook Parkway, the routing takes you back to wear you started, an, if you do not self-correct, could take you in circles.

Lets hope so!!!!

Am I the only one that skips releases?

I do not update with every release. I do it once a year, or before a big trip. If one of my travel highways renumbers exits I might update sooner. Does anyone else skip releases? It seems like a hassle to wait 2-4 hours for each of my GPS units to update maps.

I do once a year or once

I do once a year or once every other year. I've been to places before I typically travel to. So unless such area experiences significant change it all stays mostly the same.

Less wear and tear on the devices too.

Any time now!

Trip Upcoming

New maps would be great to have.

Be nice.. if

Recently had a trip to Calgary.. a world of difference in the map compared to Edmonton. Animated exits, a lot more detail in the actual map.
Be nice if the next map updated the Edmonton area to match what is available in Calgary.
