Where is the latest US POI rest area file?

Plunder is absolutely correct in the number of new locations and status changes in the last update - what is not necessarily seen is the minor changes to coordinates that are made in the updates that don't effect the locations but just how accurately the entry point is. I usually will check the coordinates of several locations on either side of any additions or deletions that are made to make sure my original coordinates were right on and make minor corrections to the coordinates as necessary.
We're just trying to get the files as accurate as possible a little at a time.
When we're on our annual driving trips I watch to see how accurate they are when I pass an exit ramp. My S.O. will say "you missed that one by about 50 feet" . Nag, nag, nag !!!

Actually, ExamDiff would pick out even minor changes to long/lat. At least in this one example, AS going to AT, there were no other changes except those noted. By the way, ExamDiff is a freebie and very easy to use.

I always download the (ZIP, without installation) file to a folder in my "portable apps" directory and unzip it there. It can then be run directly from that folder. It is not a "stealth" application as it writes to the registry, as I recall.

Rest Areas Combined file updated to Ver. AU on 5/19/12 with 11 changes in 2 states (CA, TX). There was a decrease of one in total locations to 2199.
Next update will probably be in about 6 weeks as we will be travelling.
Of course, our travels will be considered functional to insure that all Rest areas are correct ????????
(Pass me another Lobster and another cup of clam chowda !!!!!! ) About 3500 miles total passing thru and/or stopping in 13 states.

Oh, forgot - couple of Grandkids graduations to attend and a couple of granddaughters dance recitals also. And have to meet my newest Granddaughter born 3/7 !

RAC was updated 0n 7/2/12 to Version AV. There were 21 additions/deletions/corrections made in 5 states. (CA, ME, NY, NV, UT)
This is an increase of 6 locations to 2205 !

Also picked up several changes on my recent vacation trip to the NorthEast !

POI Verifier II was run on this version before submittal.

On my way back from Miami on I-75 I spotted what appears to be a new rest area under construction near mile marker 50.

Up to now all the full service rest areas on Alligator Alley are located south of the Hwy favoring the eastbound traffic making the westbound traffic drive a longer distance under a underpass to get to the service area on the other side of the road.

What I saw north of the Hwy has an entry and exit ramp already built, the parking area and the lighting is finished but the building has not bee started yet, one reason I didn’t bother getting Lat/Long is based on my experience with the rest area located on I-75 north of Tampa that took more than 2 years for the renovation so judging by that the one on the Alley may not be finished in my lifetime.

We are planning a trip back to Miami in August, I'll get more information as we drive by.

Note: It appears that eastbound traffic will not have access since I didn't see and under or over pass in the area.

No trips planned South for the rest of the year so will wait for your report and/or check the FL DOT each month before I submit updates.

Got 2 trips planned before the end of the year but both head me North out of FL !

I had an error in the SB entry to a new Rest Area on I-73/I-74 in NC. Since several hundred people have already downloaded ver AW I am leaving Ver. at AW with this correction. If you travel I-73/I-74 you can redownload.

Got right to work on the rest area file, huh?

Cruise was great - unbelievable calm seas !

Just enjoyed the relaxation !

Then home to get the house ready for Christmas - all done !

I'm a relative newbie to this, but I really like the Rest Area POIs (we hit the roads alot). A couple Iowa areas that I noticed no longer exist and can be deleted are #1212- REST AREA SB I-35 MM94
and #1213- REST AREA NB I-35 MM94. I verified my observation at IDOT website http://www.iowadot.gov/maintenance/restareas.html. Just as others, I appreciate all the hard work you invested in this and I hope this helps to keep this a great POI file.

Will research a little further and update my Master File as necessary.
Only have 1-2 other small changes to make so most likely will wait until very early Feb. to update file at POI Factory !

I was driving home from Maryland on I-95. After passing through Washington and over the beltway into Virginia, I noticed the first (I think) rest area on I-95 southbound. It has a problem.

I-95 is visually confusing there. There's the southbound road proper. There's one of those multiple exit roads to the right of the main road. And the rest area exit is from this multiple exit road lanes, not from I-95 proper.

The lane goes on for a while.

Long enough that the exit from I-95 to the exit lane was more than a mile before the exit to the rest area. Which means that by the time you're notified about the rest area, it's way too late to exit.

I'm not sure of the solution. Perhaps moving the POI to the last place you can move from I-95 to the multi-exit lane?

(Rereading this sounds comfusing. But maybe it makes sense on Google Maps?)

If you can find it on google maps there is a little link button and you can copy it here. Upper left of the map is a printer and a piece of chain. Poke the chain button.

I just download the latest version of the rest area the BB version, I also notice that the very first line read RAW file, what a RAW file mean and I also notice that this specific version does not have all the detail as the previous version.so I remove and re install the older version, it is possible someone to make those rest area to get the voice like I hear when I use the red light and speed camera instead of the red warning beep that I hear.I try severals times to get those sound to work with out any luck.

Version BB has been in circulation for over 5 weeks now and been downloaded well over 1000 times and this is the first complaint of a problem I've received !
The file and the voice alert I use has worked fine for me !

I suggest you re-download and try again !

Also got a rental ON the coast of Maine for a week! Leaving in a couple weeks for what looks like a 3600-4000 mile drive thru portions of 14 states with visits in VA, PA, NH, NY, and ME.

I'm sure they'll be some changes to make in RAC file by the time I get back !
