A New(?) Garmin air vent mount - BUYBITS Ultimate

I've just come across this air vent mount and wonder if anyone here has tried it:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DI8X1HA/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl...

It seems to have a couple features making it more desirable than other air vent mounts, generic or Garmin-made.

Can't say I've

ever seen that one. However, I did drop $20 on the Garmin mount and I like it very much after using it in various cars.

I also have the Genuine Garmin vent mount and after months of use could not be happier. It was under $20 delivered when I bought it from Crutchfield.

It is less noticeable then the one shown on the Amazon link in the original post and is rock solid and easily mounted and dismounted.

How about verticle vents?

From what I could see in the owners manual, only horizontal vents can be used.

Is this correct?

Don't like the looks of that one

I agree that "stabilizer" thingy is a cludge on the OP's link. The Garmin mount can be had for less than $20 and is stable as a rock. I use them in both cars. Tossed the windshield mounts in the trash months ago.

I never get lost, but I do explore new territory every now and then.

Generic still works for me

Still using a generic $5 vent mount held in place with a twist tie. It's covered up by the gps holder so there's no cosmetic issue. Moved from another vehicle a couple of years ago so it might be brittle enough to fall apart if I tried moving it again.

I rarely remove the gps so there's not much strain on it.

Just ordered 2

Thanks. Tired of the suction cup mount falling off.

not very impressive

I really do not like The place of the location,If you have the heat on or air condition your gps will get a full blast of cold or hot air.

sorry but not that very impressive with that one.

Great Feedback

I'm tired of the suction cup falling off in the Texas heat so I'll be ordering a couple of these mounts as well. Thanks!

AC/Heat

AC=cold is good for the GPS. Heat not so good, but you don't have to blow the heat out the dash vents. Just use the floor vents or split floor/defroster.

The Garmin version has

The Garmin version has worked well for me and it is a little less expensive too.

Garmin Air Vent Mount Review

I received the Garmin Air Vent Mount. It works really well for horizontal air vents but not very well for vertical air vents. There is a stand to help support the weight and it designed for horizontal air vents only, not verticals. So I love it in my Honda Accord (with horizontal vents) but it does not work very well in my Honda Ridgeline (with vertical air vents).

Thanks, good to know.

agree

Agree - looks nice - but really pricy for a vent mount.

Garmin vent mount

I am using the Garmin vent mount with my 3597 (magnetic mount) on my Hyundai which has vertical vent vanes. It works OK, but not perfect. The stabilizer flipper on the garmin vent mount presses against the right side of the vent opening instead of the bottom like it is intended to, and that helps keep the vertical vent vanes rigid so the mount doesn't shift side to side. I did apply a piece of double stick foam tape to the jaw of the mount to keep it from jiggling loose from the weight of the unit. I leave the mount permanently installed and only remove the GPS, so the foam tape presents no problem. I throw a hat over the mount so it doesn't show from the outside. I used it this way on my recent 4000 mile road trip without any problems.

I like the hat hat idea

I got a double jointed one from EBay for $5.95, free delivery. Yes, it seems a little floppy if you mess with it but the joints bring it closer to see with old eyes.
I don't like leaving it in the car but worry about cracking the screen having it in my pocket.

air vent mount

I don't know why but air vent mounts looks like they can be so rough on a cars vent.

ditto

My vents seemed pretty flimsy but once installed, and left alone, seem fine. It does block the heat/air controls but not enough to be a bother.
