I can understand him better. I am hard of hearing, and the female voices don't work for me...

Jill it is. Tried some of the other voices but I keep going back to Jill.

Thanks, Dave

Beavis & Butthead and K.I.T.T.

I current use the British girl voice, but I keep thinking Beavis and Butthead might be fun. The possibilities that could be substituted for "recalculating" are almost endless with those two as the voice...

PigTones has a Beavis and Butthead voice. I usually alternate between that one and NavTone's K.I.T.T..

Jill

of course!

Jill

funny thread smile

another vote for US Jill here ... but that may change soon smile
intrigued to try out the Aussie's chick voice smile

I now recall some years ago I downloaded a sort of Death voice (Dr. Nightmare I think he was actually) when Garmin released it during Halloween, that was fun to listen to the guy smile ... got boring after a while though wink

Most definitely the Aussie "Karen".

After months of listening to Karen, her voice is starting to sound very monotonous.

Wouldn't it be really great feature to be able to record and use your own voice?

I know that post I am replying to is 5 yrs old by now, but anyways, here it is smile

Aussie as well.

Aussie as well.

The Garmin site has Darth

The Garmin site has Darth Vader and Yoda. There are samples to listen to. Sounds like fun but these voices might get old on a long trip.

Thanks, Dave

Garmin 1100LM

This is a non TTS unit and the Yoda voice is my fav so far, Thank you all for the POIs.

Jack

I find him less grating. Probably has a lot to do with too many directions from women.

What voice do most of you use?

Years ago, I started with Karen, the Aussie but in time switched to the Yankee, Jill.

Voice

I use Jill most of the time.

I use ...

... Jill. Worked well so I've never tried another.

Nuvi 2460

Jill now

Although I did like the Austrailian lady on my old model (she is not on my current model)

Jack

Used Jill for years but now prefer Jack.

I use Jill but would prefer someone else...

I found non-American TTS voices do not follow naming conventions in the US. For example: CA 92 means "California route ninety-two." Jill would say this correctly, but non-US voices would say "CA 92."

More TTS Voices?

That voice studio creates Non-TTS voices. Kind of a neat idea but I'd really like to find some other TTS voices besides Jack and Jill.

Voice Used Most.

I actually use "Jack". I got tired of Jill nagging at me to turn here!!!!!

--
JG - Nuvi 2460

Plain old Jill. Keeps me on

Plain old Jill. Keeps me on my toes when she gets testy. Don't want her to get mad or she may say 'TURN RIGHT NOW' where there is no road.

Karen

Most pleasant voice on our ears.

Australian

I can't stand the American woman -- is she from New Jersey, or what?

Is it me or ...

The new 2012 Garmens stop saying Recalulating? Since I got my new 2455, I have not heard it. I know that I did not follow it sometime, Sort of miss that, Lets me know if I really did miss my turn!

Maybe there is a setting for it?

Bobkz - Garmin Nuvi 3597LMTHD/2455LMT/C530/C580- "Pain Is Fear Leaving The Body - Semper Fidelis"

I use the Australian woman's voice and call my Nuvi 'Sheila' (for obvious reasons).

None Better

cool
Daniel is the better voice, even when I change I always return to his voice.

--
"Destination Eternity" Garmin 765T, & Samsung Galaxy Note Edge

I listen to the Australasian lady.

Seems quite clear.

Australian

That works for me

My grandchildren rock

I use Sponge Bob downloaded from the internet with him rowing a boat as a vehicle.

When you are dead, you don’t know that you are dead. It is only difficult for the others. It is the same when you are stupid.

thats interesting

hmmm, that's an interesting point. is it confirmed that non-US speakers will incorrectly pronounce the state route names? we have gazillions of those in New Jersey.

on next longer trip I will give Karen a try and listen to how she speaks.

Most of the time Jill

Phoenix

Wow, resurrection of a 4 year old thread.

I use British Daniel, I have to take orders from a female at home, I am not taking directions from a female in my own car.

Ree-calculating...

American Jill... probably the same gal who was the backup to Dory in Finding Nemo.

funny how some threads don't

funny how some threads don't die smile

I am all for the Aussie female as well - I wonder what that says about me...

garmin voice

I am using the Australian chick

One or the other

I use Jill or Jack, mostly Jill. Man this thread has no end! smile

2597 Sometimes I wonder..."Why is that Frisbee getting bigger?"...and then, it hits me.

Jill is the one

I try other voice but Jill keep me luring back to her. smile

Val - Nuvi 785t and Streetpilot C340

American English

She is not TTS and I guess her name is a secret or something. I drive a diesel pickup and she is the only one who's voice punches through. Frustrating Garmin chose to make her less functional.
Samantha is just sloppy as she bleeds words together
"turn right on eighteast" on what? Or british " take romp on right".

Karen

The Australian female. Her enunciation seems to get through to my brain better. Wife does not like her, but I am the one driving.
