What voice do most of you use?

Tried them all, but always come back to Jill

I always have sound muted...because I use the KNA-G510 connected through my Kenwood head unit, everytime the GPS voice says something, it mutes whatever sound (radio, cd, ipod) the stereo is playing. Got real annoying, real fast when repeated GPS commands kept cutting in on the tunes.

There is this little program that lets you change the words. So, on mine, 'recalculating' has become 'you're off track, love' and I have it saying 'please' and 'thank you' as well!

I use Jill ...

but she says, "Okay. Get the kickstand up. We're ready to roll." instead of, "Please follow the highlighted route."

and, "Let's try this way." instead of, "Recalculating."

And my command to start voice recognition is Wake Up Jack

I like Jill. Easy to understand and she's been with me for oh - so - long.

...but she got a little old after a couple of years. She has a real attitude when she tells you that she is recalculating after a couple of times. So now, I use the Australian chick, Karen. However, it's real interesting when she has to annunciate a state road in Kentucky. She has a real rough time saying Kentucky when she has to tell you to make a right on KY 11 for instance. It comes out K Y eleven.

I current use the British girl voice, but I keep thinking Beavis and Butthead might be fun. The possibilities that could be substituted for "recalculating" are almost endless with those two as the voice...

Been with Jill since day one. We're getting married this summer.

and use hearing aids, I can understand the British chap better than the others. The high ranges of the female voices are lost on me...shame, they sound so hot!

after my first post in this thread and have never switched back...overall, much easier to understand

1490 = Jill
295 = Karen
While Jill is navigating, some times I have Karen direct me to a McDonalds for coffee. It's fun to hear them argue about which way to turn at the bottom of off-ramp.
Jill says, "You missed the turn." Alas! Karen cannot be retrained.

When we're around town we use Jack !
When we're on a long trip we switch between Jack & Jill - Jack one day , Jill the next !
Breaks up the monotony !
Used to like Samantha on my 260 (now relegated to a spare in the trunk) but she isn't available for the 1490.

okay can somebody post all the voices in a file so I can listed to all before choosing? LOL.

I am using Jack got sick of Jill and the Garmin Tech guy is just boring and he doesn't do text to speech!

I have too many options so a file with all would be great..mind you I assume some units will have difft voices though.

Use Jill for all the Nuvi default sounds.
Although I think she was eating her lunch when she was recording some of the vowels, I find her acceptable.

For custom POI's such as Redlight and Police Hiding Points, I use a custom male voice.
When I hear a male voice I immediately pay more attention since there is the potential threat of cash escaping from my wallet.

You can create custom sounds by typing what you want, either male or female here. Limited voices but they serve the purpose. Save as .wav or .mp3

I use Jill. The TTS Voice Editor has allowed my to change recalculating to OK, your way Master! I certainly get a rise out of friends & family when I take a wrong turn.

For my ears the women's voices are more intelligible in my car. And after trying them all Jill was my favorite of the English-speaking women.

The only way to tell if an "Australian Chick" voice is available for the Zumo 550 is connect the unit to the PC and use WebUpdater. Here you will find all available voices that are compatible with your Zumo 550. Maybe at one time you had the voice but deleted to save space, WebUpdater will enable you to reinstall.
I WOULD NOT arbitrarily install a voice file of an Australian female voice you find somewhere, it won't work.

Acording to Garmin you CAN NOT download customized voices on the Zumo 550.

We've been using Jill and sometimes Jack on all of our Nuvi's. But mostly prefer Jill.

I think he is easier to understand for alot of things. I don't have the option on my 2595lmt, is it downloadable from Garmin somewhere?
