Don't get put off by the web reviews. I hesitated, but bought two at $66.95 (price at the time..seems to change) and they delivered in 3 days no issues. I do live about 200 mi south of them though.
Seems like a good price, but I wonder in the long run if it is worth it. It allows 4 updates per year on one and only one Garmin GPS device. With the competitive pressure of smartphones with improving GPS navigation, the price of new GPS units will likely continue to decrease. At some point it will be pointless to buy lifetime maps unless the price is less than the cost of buying new units. Also, what happens if the lifetimed GPS unit breaks (out of warranty) or gets lost/stolen?

You worry too much. If you are happy with your unit and have no intention of buying another for a while,
get the update. updates are good for 4 times a year That's plenty. There might not even be 4 updates every year. Lost or stolen???? Take the darn thing with you when you leave the car. Lost? Don't loose it. It's not like we are dealing with a huge amount of money here....lol. haha look who's talking here,i'm still trying to find a better deal in Canada

I do photography and my Lenses and Cameras are expensive. When this arrangement with ontario went through I took a beating. McBains Camera in Alberta is the only place that DOESN'T charge hst. When they get their audit they also will be told to do so. BTW it's LAW. Loophole got fixed. All these years BC Businesses were complaining cause peeps were buying in other provinces and only getting hit with GST. Retailers were loosing money here, but there was a loophole so nothing could be done about it till Numb Nuts brought in the HST.

At my cell phone rate 2 lifetime cards = 4 months service, with no data plan. My lifestyle says I should have a pay as you go, just too lazy so far to change.

Stuff happens. I'll look for a cheap GPSr bundled with lifetime maps.
Oh yeah I forgot.. that's why I haven't changed phone plans. At the rate my phones & batteries die/cost, my plan gives me a new phone every two years. My GPSr's have done way better than my phones.

Good to see the prices are coming down even more. The only debate is I'll probably not updated until next time we go on a road trip, so by then would it be better to get the map update, or upgrade to another gps that has lane guidance (even though my 265WT has been very reliable).
Ouch, just checked and now it's down to $65 at Amazon. Too bad I couldn't wait. maybe there is a way to postpone Labor Day until after Amazon drops the upgrade price next time.

Garmin nüMaps Lifetime North America Map Updates $67.99
I am now giving this some thought. I bought a Garmin Nuvi 500 a while back and it is now my wife's GPS. I have considered updating the maps, but the economics have me scratching my head. At $67.99 from Amazon, the price is sort of affordable, but I do realize that for not much more I might be able to buy a new Garmin and possibly one that includes Life Time Maps. Ironically, the Onetime is only about $20 less! The good thing is I don't have to rush to decide. Who knows, they might even have better prices yet as Christmas approaches!
Let's hope that this is a trend.
