It's surprising they still sell that at such a high price point for map updates only. There are so many cheaper alternatives (i.e. buying new hardware with new maps already there or just using a smartphone.)

I think this is why they've started bundling the lifetime maps into the units. It lets the user think they are getting a good deal when in fact using their smartphone would probably work for most folks.
$64.88 for the mailed lifetime card, about a dollar more for the online code delivery. The prices have been lower if you can wait but this is the best deal I've seen at the moment.
Thanks for the link, that's a pretty good price and I got a notice that a map update was available for my unit. There's quite a few new roads in my area, so I might as well bite the bullet on this deal.
how many of us have lost their "Lifetime Maps" for one reason or another, i.e. a GPS broke and had to be replaced by Garmin, stolen GPS, etc? I think Garmin is pretty fair about it, or they should be.

Good to know.
I have no worry about buying direct from Amazon or from any seller using "Fulfilled by Amazon."
With other sellers at Amazon, I'd use the same caution that I would when buying on eBay. I don't rule them out, but I'm more cautious.
If you're going to pay $ 120.00 on Amazon as their current price is advertised, you might as well buy directly from Garmin and MUCH less expensive.
This is on their current website.
Garmin nüMaps Lifetime North America Map Updates $54.00
I should be getting an exchanged Garmin Nuvi 350 soon and I am looking forward to getting Lifetime Maps installed on it. It looks like it is still at $54.00 right now. That is, unless there will be a Black Friday deal coming in a few weeks!
That is great. I see it's not being sold directly by Amazon but it is "Fulfilled by Amazon" so I would not hesitate to buy today if I needed a LM for one of my devices. It's hard to imagine that Black Friday pricing could get much better than this today.

maybe if you bought the update on an sd card but this is a direct download from Garmin. The seller has over 800 transactions, ALL positive with having sold many items over 500.00$.
There's no absolute guarantee neither of crossing a street safely but there are ways to increase your odds as in the above sale. To each his own.

I agree. If in the market for a numaps card, I'd give this item a bid now (up to maybe 50-75% of Amazon's current price) given the Seller's feedback.
Worst case scenario: it'd be a cheap return to the Seller to kick in ebay's Buyer Protection.
For $50 it's worth it, but when you see prices like Amazon is still charging, you reach the point where you might be better off buying a new one with lifetime maps. Amazing how the prices have dropped in the last few years.
The few times I have updated my maps, I always feel like it is out of date. I see roads that had changed 2 years ago that arent included in the updates.
